Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between David Choe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shintaro Nomo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Choe's entrance music is DVDASA Theme Song. A fine choice. Both these fighters are unbeaten, so somebody's 0 has got to go!I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Shintaro Nomo was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, David Choe!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Shintaro Nomo!
The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Shigeki Sano.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Choe uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Nomo.
Nomo staying out of range there.

Choe moves into the clinch.
Choe tries a knee to the head but Nomo blocks it.
Choe misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Nomo.
Nomo avoiding damage as Choe throws knees to the body.
A head punch on the inside from Choe fails to land.
Choe tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Nomo lands an uppercut.


It looks like David Choe has been cut.
Nomo wants to take the fight to the mat but Choe manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
A short body shot lands from Choe as the two fighters clinch.
Nomo blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

Choe wants the takedown. Nomo is fighting it off but Choe persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Nomo's guard against the cage.
Choe wants to control from the top but Nomo keeps moving.

Nomo looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Nomo has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Choe can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Nomo felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

Nomo is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Choe stands and throws Nomo's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Choe is trying to get an arm triangle but Nomo is defending well.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Choe wants to control but Nomo is keeping him busy.
Nomo tries to bench press Choe off him but Choe keeps the position.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Choe tightens his grip and picks Nomo up, before dumping him to the ground. Nomo manages to land in guard.

Nomo is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Choe has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Choe!

Nomo has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Choe!

Nomo has hold of Choe's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Choe manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Nomo jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Choe is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Choe and Nomo has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Nomo wants to stand but Choe has his arm trapped.
Choe keeps Nomo under control for a moment.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Nomo goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Choe rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Nomo's guard! Nice work there by Choe!

Shintaro Nomo showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Nomo tries to throw a body punch but Choe avoids it by throwing Nomo back against the cage.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Nomo working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Choe doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Choe manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Nomo had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Choe defends it easily.
Nomo tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Choe trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Choe has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Nomo to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Choe is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Nomo pulls down on the head and he's put Choe to sleep! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:55 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Shintaro Nomo!

Shintaro Nomo decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
