The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Ren Mimura and Shirou Masuda.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hooj throws a body punch but Tamaso moves out of range.
Tamaso lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Hooj has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Tokyo Totally Gym + Sauna in the buildup to the fight.
Hooj throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Tamaso was covering up waiting for the punch and Hooj finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Hooj wants to control from the top but Tamaso keeps moving.
Tamaso looking for subs off his back but Hooj has passed one foot through into half guard.
Hooj prevents Tamaso from improving his position.
Tamaso controlling the position well.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Tamaso is trying to maintain the position but Hooj is very close to passing his half guard.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Vinny Tamaso hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Hooj takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.

Hooj takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.
Hooj is breathing heavily.
Tamaso lands with a nice combination. Hooj backs away looking to recover.
Tamaso tries to sprawl but Hooj drives through with a takedown into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Tamaso controlling the position for now.
Hooj prevents Tamaso from improving his position.
Tamaso keeping hold of Hooj's head, controlling as best he can.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Vinny Tamaso.
Hooj throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Tamaso's waist but Tamaso gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Hooj off to one side.
A decent looking body kick lands there for Tamaso.
Tamaso scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Hooj doesn't seem bothered though.
Hooj's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Tamaso connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Hooj scrambles back to his feet.
Tamaso throws a front kick that sends Hooj stumbling back into the cage.
Tamaso throws a one two combo.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Tamaso turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.

Tamaso is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Hooj rather than just go for the knockout.
Hooj moves forwards but Tamaso connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Hooj takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Hooj tries to move into range but Tamaso moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Hooj on the wrong end of a kick to the body.
Tamaso lands a leg kick that knocks Hooj off balance momentarily.

Hooj is rocked!
Tamaso moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Oh Hooj is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Hooj takes a jab right on the kisser.
Tamaso is working the combinations to good effect here.
Hooj takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Hooj seems to have got his legs back now.
Tamaso scores with the left hand. Hooj knows he should have avoided that one.
Tamaso tests Hooj's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Hooj closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Tamaso lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Tamaso connects with a right that clearly hurt Hooj. He's backed up against the cage with nowhere to go as Tamaso proceeds to tee off with vicious combinations till Hooj collapses and taps out under the pressure!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:47 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Vinny Tamaso!
