Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Kira Kato (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Travis Knight (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Kato might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to MAD WORLD by Gary Jules. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Kira Kato!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Travis Knight!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Jack Bonds and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kato goes for a double leg but Knight avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Knight continues to drive forward.
Kato swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Kato really is a fat lump.
Knight tries to score a body lock takedown but Kato shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Knight is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Kato pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Kato lands with a short punch from the clinch.

Kato has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Knight is trying to keep an underhook but Kato manages to get the takedown into half guard.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Kato is looking to take a break and control but Knight is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Kato is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Knight is just riding it out for now. Kato eventually gives up the hold.

Knight has found himself in a tricky position here. He's been working his transitions in training so let's see if he can work his way out of it.
Knight is trying to maintain the position but Kato is very close to passing his half guard.

Kato looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Kato is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.

Kato is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Knight sees it coming and defends easily.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Kato drops back looking for a leg! Knight is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Knight manages to kick Kato off! Kato jumps back into Knight's guard.

Kato has hold of Knight's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Knight seems comfortable defending it but Kato has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Knight is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Knight is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Kato couldn't care less - he's delighted!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:42 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Kira Kato!
