Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Conor Harris (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fernando Lima (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Conor Harris!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Fernando Lima!
The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Edson Gomes and Daniel Cesar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lima tries to clinch up.

Harris has closed the distance and engaged Lima in a clinch.
Lima is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Harris is defending well.
Harris is defending well against a takedown attempt.

Harris gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
Harris wanted to stand there but Lima had control of the position.
Lima tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Harris trying to stand up but can't free himself from Lima's guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Harris takes the fight into the clinch.
Lima drops down looking for an ankle pick but Harris pulls his leg out and moves away.
Conor Harris has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Fernando Lima.
Lima will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Lima is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Harris gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Harris manages to pull guard.
Harris wants to stand and escape but Lima is having none of it.

Lima must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Lima cracks Harris with a solid left hand.

Lima throws an elbow that misses. Harris uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Lima's guard. Nice move by Harris!

Lima wants to sweep but no luck.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Harris pulls Lima into guard.
Lima is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Harris bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Lima's guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Harris gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Harris throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Lima on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Harris stuffs the takedown.
Lima closes this distance looking for a takedown but Harris circles away.
Lima shoots in but no luck this time.

Lima changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Harris fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Harris rushes Lima and presses him up against the cage.

Harris has had enough of the clinch but Lima keeps him there for the moment.
Lima is breathing heavily.

Harris gets control of Lima's arms and successfully pulls guard. Harris will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Harris pushes Lima off and gets back to his feet.
Harris stuffs the takedown attempt from Lima. Lima gets slowly back to his feet.
Harris scores with a head kick.


It looks like Fernando Lima has been cut.

Harris has Lima up against the cage in a clinch.
Lima wants a takedown.

Harris pulls guard effortlessly.
Lima trying to control the position from guard on top but Harris is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Harris bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Lima's guard.
Lima really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Harris. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Harris trying to stand up but can't free himself from Lima's guard.

Harris stands and steps away. Lima gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Harris gets a clinch.

Harris breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Harris throws a right and a left that Lima avoids nicely.

Harris forces Lima back against the cage and clinches.
Harris is trying to break the clinch but Lima is controlling him.

Harris pulls Lima into guard.

Harris has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Lima can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Harris wants to get back to his feet but Lima is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Lima wants to control from the top but Harris keeps moving.
Harris manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Harris stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.

Harris closes the distance and clinches.

Harris wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Lima has him pressed against the cage.

Harris decides to pull guard.

Harris looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Lima looking to sit in guard and control but Harris gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Harris wants to stand but Lima is controlling his posture from full guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Harris has clasped his hands together around Lima's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.

Conor Harris is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Harris wants to break free but Lima has control.

Harris pulls guard successfully.
Lima wants to pass the guard but Harris is keeping the position.
Harris will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

Harris is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Lima is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
