Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Lex Layser (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Badi Gnesh (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Badi Gnesh!
The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, Steven Brown and Chris Edwards.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The fight stays on the outside here - Layser looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Layser is looking to clinch.

Gnesh gets a double leg takedown into Layser's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Gnesh pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Layser is keeping the position for now.
Gnesh postures up and lands a big shot to Layser's brow.
Layser utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Gnesh lands a couple of elbows.
Layser is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Layser is looking to stand up but Gnesh isn't so interested in that idea.

Layser is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Gnesh is aware though and is defending well.

We've been hearing good reports from Layser's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Gnesh has a takedown stuffed.
Gnesh tries to score a power double leg takedown but Layser sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Gnesh somewhat.
Gnesh will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Lex Layser has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Badi Gnesh.

Layser wants to clinch.
Layser shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Gnesh pinned against the cage. Gnesh gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Gnesh tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Layser defends well and Gnesh ends up having to push Layser into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Layser lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.
A bit of stalling here from Layser.
Layser seems to have come into the fight with the intention of avoiding any damage in the clinch, rather than actually showing any aggression.

Layser has a couple of punches blocked by Gnesh.
Layser lands with a short punch from the clinch.
Layser stalling in the clinch but Gnesh improves position.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Gnesh is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.

The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

That was a close round but I would say that Lex Layser will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Gnesh closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Layser quickly recovers to half guard.

Gnesh is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Layser can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Gnesh can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Layser is looking to escape.
Layser tries to hold on but Gnesh pushes him away.
Layser is wriggling around trying to escape.
Gnesh looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
Layser is in all sorts of trouble here.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Gnesh avoids the attempt from Layser to control.
Gnesh has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Gnesh breaks from Layser's wrist control and lands an elbow.

Oooooh, big shot lands for Gnesh! Layser is hurt baaadly! Gnesh is firing away with more strikes - Layser is covering up... the ref is warning him to do something. He's just covering up though still and the ref has to step in to end the fight! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:32 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Badi Gnesh!
