The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
BJ tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Smith cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
BJ is looking to clinch but Smith is avoiding it.

BJ gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Smith manages to break the clinch.

BJ pushes Smith up against the cage in a clinch.
BJ keeps control of Smith as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Smith tries to break the clinch but BJ is controlling the position.

BJ manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Smith tries to stand but BJ is controlling from the bottom.
BJ is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Smith wants to stand but BJ is controlling his posture from full guard.
BJ manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Smith manages to get himself to full guard.
BJ pushes down on Smith's leg and manages to get into half guard.

BJ decides to stand up.
BJ wants to clinch up but Smith keeps it at a distance.
Smith is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by BJ.
Smith misses with a straight right.
BJ steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Smith.
Smith looks to land a left hand but BJ moved out of range nicely.

BJ moves into range and clinches up with Smith.
Smith is looking to break free of the clinch but BJ has double underhooks.

BJ decides to pull guard.
BJ looking to hit a scissor sweep but Smith is one step ahead there.

BJ pushes a forearm under Smith's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Smith is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
