Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Hilario Solis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Charlie Ankarstrom (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Hilario Solis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Charlie Ankarstrom!
The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Thiago Cunha and Edson Gomes.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ankarstrom decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Ankarstrom seems to be looking for submissions.

Ankarstrom is trying to work for a kimura but Solis is defending well.
Solis trying to control here.
Solis wants to get back to his feet.

Ankarstrom looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Solis is trying to control but can't.

Solis gets full guard.
Solis wants to stand and escape but Ankarstrom is having none of it.
Ankarstrom wants to pass the guard but Solis is keeping the position.
Solis is looking to stand up but Ankarstrom isn't so interested in that idea.

Ankarstrom thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Solis is trying to control the position but Ankarstrom postures up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Solis wants to stand and escape but Ankarstrom is having none of it.
Solis knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Ankarstrom on the ground.
Solis is breathing heavily.
Solis wants to get back to his feet but Ankarstrom passes into half guard.

Ankarstrom sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Solis defending well though.
Ankarstrom looks to land a strike but Solis avoids it nicely and regains full guard.

Ankarstrom drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Solis dives on top into guard.

Ankarstrom escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Solis gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Ankarstrom looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Solis has picked Ankarstrom up and slammed him! Ankarstrom can't keep hold of the triangle and Solis manages to pass to side control!
Solis tries to stand but Ankarstrom is controlling his head.
Ankarstrom gets back to half guard.
Solis content to control rather than advance.
Ankarstrom wants to control but Solis is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Solis tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
Solis drops an elbow to the side of Ankarstrom's head.

Ankarstrom is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Solis pulls his head out easily.
Ankarstrom wants to get back to his feet.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Solis content to control rather than advance.
Solis wants to stand up but Ankarstrom has a hold of him and won't allow it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Charlie Ankarstrom will probably get the nod.
That's time! Solis's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.



The fight moves into the clinch position.

Ankarstrom manages to pull guard.
Solis lands a couple of elbows.

Ankarstrom throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Solis escapes and throws Ankarstrom's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Charlie Ankarstrom has got the better of the ground game so far.
Ankarstrom wants to control but Solis postures up.
Ankarstrom is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
Solis wants to control but Ankarstrom is keeping him busy.
A lull in the action here.
Ankarstrom is breathing heavily.

Ankarstrom is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Solis is staying tight to Ankarstrom's torso, preventing him from escaping.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Hilario Solis just wasn't active enough.
Solis gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Ankarstrom counters with a nice double leg into guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Ankarstrom accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Solis wants to stand and escape but Ankarstrom is having none of it.

Ankarstrom is looking to work some ground and pound but Solis has wrist control.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Solis is on top in guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Ankarstrom wants to control the position but Solis says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.
Solis is taking a breather. Ankarstrom says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Solis seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Solis escapes and gets back to his feet.
Nice sprawl there from Ankarstrom as Solis shoots in.

Ankarstrom shoots in and gets a takedown into Solis's guard.
Ankarstrom trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Solis is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Solis wants to sweep here but Ankarstrom controlling him for the moment.

Solis utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Ankarstrom passes Solis's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Solis looks like he's trying to stand up.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Solis is looking to get back to is feet but Ankarstrom passes into side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Charlie Ankarstrom showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Ankarstrom closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Ankarstrom lands in his opponent's guard.
Solis preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Solis wants to stand up but Ankarstrom is controlling him.

Ankarstrom drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Solis dives on top into guard.
Solis has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Ankarstrom is proving hard to escape from.

Solis got a little sloppy there for a moment and Ankarstrom has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Solis has managed to get both his arms back between Ankarstrom's legs - danger averted.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

I would just about give that final round to Charlie Ankarstrom.
Well Ankarstrom has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
