The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lanes shoots for a double leg takedown but Boogaard sprawls well. He's pushed Lanes's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Lanes tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Boogaard paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Lanes misses with a left hand
and Boogaard counters with a straight punch to the midsection.

Lanes closes the distance and clinches.
Boogaard lands a right hand.
Lanes with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Lanes blocks an uppercut.

Boogaard breaks the clinch.
Boogaard scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.

It looks like Tony Lanes has been cut.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

and Boogaard counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Boogaard keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

Boogaard drops Lanes with a beautiful combination! Lanes stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Boogaard is looking for the KO!

Boogaard has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight.
Lanes wants to clinch
and Boogaard counters with a series of strikes that practically lifts Lanes off his feet! He tumbles backwards, his head bouncing off the mat - Boogaard follows up with more strikes before the ref can step in but Lanes was out before he hit the floor.
