Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Gus Bus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Julius Octavius (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gus Bus could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Julius Octavius's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Gus Bus!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Julius Octavius!
The judges for this bout are Josh West, Roger Salmon and Chris Saunders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bus avoids the head kick by Octavius.
Bus misses with a body kick.
No luck for Octavius with that takedown attempt.

Octavius fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Bus, pushing him back against the cage.

Octavius wants the takedown. Bus is fighting it off but Octavius persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Bus's guard against the cage.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Octavius forces his way into half guard.
Bus wants to improve his position but Octavius is controlling well.
Octavius thows a huge punch but Bus dodges it nicely.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Octavius trying to control from half guard but Bus is working away.
Octavius wants to pass to mount but Bus is defending the position.
Octavius is trying to control. Bus wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Octavius seems to be working for a kimura but Bus defends the submission attempt.
Octavius is trying to control the action in half guard but Bus is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Octavius looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Octavius is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Bus is just riding it out for now. Octavius eventually gives up the hold.

Bus is refusing to be controlled, as Octavius sits in half guard.
Octavius looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

Bus is defending against the submission attempts here by Octavius.

Octavius is trying to work for a kimura but Bus is defending well.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Octavius thows a huge punch but Bus dodges it nicely.
Octavius wants to lay and pray for a moment but Bus keeps working.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Octavius uses his free foot to push down on Bus's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Bus.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Julius Octavius dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Bus checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
Bus throws a nice outside leg kick.
Bus fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Octavius shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Bus as he avoids it easily.
Bus scores to the head and body with a nice combination!


It looks like Julius Octavius has been cut.
Bus lands a nice looking body kick.
Bus avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Bus feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Octavius's calf.
Octavius throws a leg kick but Bus sees it coming and checks it nicely.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Bus scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Octavius throws out a leg kick but Bus moves out of range and Octavius only half commits.
Bus jabs Octavius to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Octavius throws a leg kick but Bus checks it.
Octavius walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Bus checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Bus scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Octavius checks a leg kick.
Bus delivers a nice body kick.
Bus swats away the attempt to clinch by Octavius.
A nice leg kick lands there from Bus.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
An inside leg kick from Bus misses.
Octavius throws a sloppy head kick and Bus moves out of range easily.
Bus swinging wildly here.
Octavius will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Bus turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Octavius moves out of range of the body kick from Bus.
Octavius fails in his attempt to clinch.

Bus tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Octavius was well out of range. Poor timing from Bus.

Bus throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Octavius dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Bus. That did some damage!
Bus throws a lazy head kick

and Octavius counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Octavius stands and throws Bus's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Octavius staying calm.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Bus gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!

Octavius is standing up, even though he is in mount.
Bus fakes the leg kick and cracks Octavius in the body.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Octavius misses with a leg kick
and Bus makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Gus Bus dominated that second round.
The cut man is working on Julius Octavius's cut.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

and Bus counters with a slapping leg kick.
Octavius throws a leg kick that misses.
Bus connects with a leg kick. Octavius looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Bus scores with a kick to the midsection.

and Bus counters with a body kick.

Octavius pushes Bus up against the cage in a clinch.
Octavius fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Octavius has Bus pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Bus manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Octavius has Bus pressed against the cage, preventing Bus from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Bus wants to break free but Octavius has control.
Octavius avoiding damage.
Bus tries to circle away but Octavius has him pinned against the cage.
Octavius keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Bus's efforts to push away.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.

Both fighters working to control the clinch.
Bus blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Bus is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.

Octavius gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Octavius thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Octavius is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Bus sees it coming and defends easily.
Octavius tries to pass the half guard into mount. Bus knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Octavius keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Bus tries to roll over but Octavius keeps him under control.
Octavius controlling the action here.
Octavius seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Bus does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Julius Octavius has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Octavius chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Bus can pounce on him.

Octavius darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Bus is holding on to half guard well.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Octavius thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

And that's the end of the fight!
Julius Octavius comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Octavius has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
