Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 5 - 1, fighting out of The Island, Gwan Dylan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Butch Copeland!
The judges for this bout are Bart Greer, Michael Johnstone and Sandra Marshall.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Dylan has Copeland up against the cage in a clinch.
Copeland will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Dylan up against the cage.

Dylan has picked Copeland up - he's going for a ride! Dylan dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Copeland wants to get back to his feet.
Copeland avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Dylan.

Dylan is looking for a kimura but Copeland is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Dylan to get the leverage.
Dylan is pressing down on Copeland's thigh, looking to free his foot. Copeland is holding on for now.
Dylan looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Copeland keeps control of the position for the meantime.
Dylan is keen to just control but Copeland is a slippery customer.

Copeland is defending against the submission attempts here by Dylan.
Dylan will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Dylan misses with a head shot. Copeland uses the momentum to regain guard.
Copeland wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Copeland is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Copeland shoots in but Dylan avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Copeland closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Dylan to the mat! Dylan manages to get full guard.
Copeland not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Copeland throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Dylan works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Butch Copeland was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Dylan swats away the attempt to clinch by Copeland.

Dylan tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Copeland tries to pull guard but Dylan forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Dylan is trying to drag Copeland to the mat but Copeland just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Dylan lands with a left to the head.

Dylan turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Dylan manages to end up in side control.
I wouldn't like to be where Copeland is right now.
Copeland is looking for a sweep.
You can see the frustration on Copeland's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Copeland tries to bench press Dylan off him but Dylan keeps the position.
Dylan really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Dylan wants to lay and pray for a moment but Copeland keeps working.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Copeland is trying to get back to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Gwan Dylan dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Copeland misses with a low kick.
Copeland's coach down at was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Copeland's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.

Dylan sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Copeland's guard.
Gwan Dylan overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Copeland makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Copeland.

Copeland working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Dylan doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Copeland is tightening it up a little... Dylan has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Dylan reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Dylan taps out! Nice BJJ there by Copeland!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:56 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Choke). Butch Copeland!
After the fight, Butch Copeland was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
