Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Gracie Allen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jeff Ward (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Gracie Allen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jeff Ward!
The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Thiago Cunha and Paulo Santos.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Allen fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Ward, pushing him back against the cage.

Allen breaks from the clinch.
Allen rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Ward moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Jeff Ward seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Ward doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Allen moves into the clinch.
Ward is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Allen is defending well.
Ward has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Allen is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Gracie Allen has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jeff Ward.
The referee is keeping an eye on Allen - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.

Allen has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Ward clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

Ward is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Allen gets his way!

Ward drops down looking for an ankle pick but Allen pulls his leg out and moves away.

Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Ward is looking for a triangle but Allen pushes his legs off easily.
Allen knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Ward on the ground.

Gracie Allen overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Ward is breathing heavily.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Ward is trying to control the position from the bottom.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Gracie Allen just wasn't active enough.

Allen has Ward pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Allen pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Ward tumbling to the mat - Allen dives into Ward's guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Gracie Allen.

Ward throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Allen escapes and throws Ward's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Ward takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Allen is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Allen scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Ward to see if he's OK.

Allen turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Allen manages to end up in side control.

Well Allen has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
