PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Mose Blake (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Roy Tunney (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Roy Tunney will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Mose Blake!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Roy Tunney!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, Paul Tew and James Atkins.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Tunney clinches with his opponent.
Blake taking a break, stalling in the clinch.
Blake wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Tunney has him pressed against the cage.

Blake gets control of Tunney's arms and successfully pulls guard. Blake will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Tunney missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Tunney throws an elbow that misses. Blake uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Tunney's guard. Nice move by Blake!

Tunney has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Blake is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Tunney.
Tunney tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck.
Blake pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

Tunney's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
Tunney can't escape the position.
Blake won't let Tunney get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.

Blake blocks Tunney's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom.
Tunney wants to hold on but Blake pushes him away.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Blake tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Blake really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Tunney is really trying hard to get back to his feet.

Tunney is trying to reverse the position but instead Blake has taken his back - oops!
Tunney tries to roll but Blake sticks to his back.
Tunney trying to control but he's just got himself in more trouble.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Blake controlling the position well here. Tunney rolled but Blake kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Mose Blake will probably get the nod.

Tunney throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Blake escapes and throws Tunney's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Blake takes a little break here. Tunney wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Blake controls the position from side control.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Tunney is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Blake's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

Tunney looking for submissions from an awkward position here.

Blake is controlling the pace.

Mose Blake has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Blake shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Tunney defends it nicely.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Tunney shoots for a double leg takedown but Blake sprawls well. He's pushed Tunney's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Mose Blake is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Tunney moves into the clinch.

Blake drags the fight down to the ground.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Blake is on top in guard.

Blake gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Tunney.

Tunney closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Blake takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.

Tunney fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Blake tries to buck Tunney off but Tunney is having none of it.
Tunney sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Blake is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Blake stops Tunney from passing to mount.
Mose Blake overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Blake is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Tunney is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Blake is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Blake is trying to improve his position.

Tunney lands a few punches from side control.
Tunney is looking to take a break and control but Blake is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Blake is looking to reverse the position.
Tunney wants to control for a moment but Blake uses the opportunity to move back to half guard.

Tunney seems to be working for a kimura but Blake defends the submission attempt.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Blake is looking to control Tunney's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Blake avoid being mounted?

Blake wants to get back to full guard.
Tunney thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Blake is trying to control but can't.
Blake gets back to full guard.
Tunney wants to stand but Blake has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Blake had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Tunney defends it easily.
Roy Tunney has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Blake utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Tunney's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

Tunney is in close to Blake's body, working some short punches and elbows.


Blake is rocked!
Tunney loads up on a big left hand. Blake felt that one! He's just covering up now, not defending himself intelligently - Tunney looks towards the ref and unloads with 3 more big shots and the ref has no choice but to stop the fight! Blake can't hide his disappointment, as Tunney celebrates the victory.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:26 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Roy Tunney!
