Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Sidney Rhodes!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Gilson James!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, James Glass and Phil Schofield.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
James misses with a takedown attempt - Rhodes sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
James looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
James throws a head kick that misses.
Rhodes circles away from the clinch attempt.
James misses with a head kick.

Rhodes shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Rhodes showed some decent athleticism there.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Rhodes seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Rhodes wants to work for an arm triangle but James is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

That's one minute gone in the round.

James has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at Cozad MMA London. Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one.

Rhodes is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and James defends it well.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Rhodes takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Rhodes lands a nice short elbow.
Rhodes stalling.

Rhodes decides to stand up.
James dives in and grabs Rhodes's left leg, looking for a takedown. Rhodes pushes down on James's head and hops out.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
James shoots and misses

and Rhodes counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Rhodes.
Sidney Rhodes has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Gilson James.
Rhodes controlling the action here for a moment.
James is looking to break free of the clinch but Rhodes has double underhooks.

Rhodes breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Rhodes gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Rhodes's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Rhodes drives through and clinches with James against the cage.

Rhodes gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, James regains guard.

James throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.

Rhodes gets to his feet. James looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

James gets tackled into the cage by Rhodes. Rhodes maintains the clinch.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Rhodes lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
James is trying to stall.

Rhodes has clasped his hands together around James's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
Rhodes controls the position.

Rhodes decides to stand back up. Rhodes steps back and let's James get back to his feet.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Rhodes closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into James's guard.

Rhodes stands up from guard. Let's bang!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sidney Rhodes dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!



Rhodes changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. James looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Check out the look on Rhodes's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
James takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.

Rhodes is putting a hurting on James here, landing some big shots from side control.
James is not in a great position here, taking some shots.
Rhodes is staying tight to James's torso, preventing him from escaping.
James is breathing heavily.

Rhodes has worked his way into a potential kimura here. James is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Rhodes yanks on the arm and James is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Rhodes.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:58 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Sidney Rhodes!
