Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Richie Weiss!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ariel Piechocki!
The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Felipe Paraventi and Seu Braga.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Weiss tries to sprawl but Piechocki drives through with a takedown into half guard.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Piechocki trying to control from half guard but Weiss is working away.
Weiss is looking to improve his position.
Weiss is trying to control but can't.
Weiss controlling the leg, holding on to half guard.
Weiss knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Piechocki on the ground.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Richie Weiss.

Piechocki shoots in and bounces Weiss off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Piechocki has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Weiss is proving hard to escape from.
Weiss wants to sweep here but Piechocki controlling him for the moment.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Ariel Piechocki wasn't active enough on the ground.

Piechocki scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Weiss is looking to regain half guard here but Piechocki keeps moving and retains side control.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Weiss is not content to let Piechocki control the position.

Piechocki is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Ariel Piechocki hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Piechocki closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Piechocki is looking to take a break and control but Weiss is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Piechocki wants to control but Weiss is keeping him busy.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Piechocki wants to lay and pray for a moment but Weiss keeps working.

Piechocki is pressing down on Weiss's thigh, looking to free his foot. Weiss is holding on for now.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Piechocki throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Weiss was covering up waiting for the punch and Piechocki finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Weiss wants to get back to his feet but Piechocki is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Weiss keeping full guard, as Piechocki tries to pass.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Weiss has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Piechocki is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.
Piechocki wants to break the clinch but can't.

A punch combination from Weiss misses.

Piechocki fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Weiss sprawls well initially but Piechocki persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Weiss is trying to maintain the position but Piechocki is very close to passing his half guard.
Weiss tries to get to full guard but Piechocki has control of the leg.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Weiss shoots in for a takedown but Piechocki shows good takedown defense.

Piechocki gets the takedown into side control.
Weiss looks to move to half guard but instead Piechocki has passed into mount! Damn!

Weiss sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Piechocki thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Weiss's head.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ariel Piechocki showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!



Piechocki drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Piechocki wants to control but Weiss is keeping him busy.
Weiss struggling a bit here.

Piechocki decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Richie Weiss is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Piechocki fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Weiss sprawls well initially but Piechocki persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Weiss pushes Piechocki off looking to stand but Piechocki dives back in and keeps control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Piechocki not landing any meaningful shots this time.

Weiss is looking for a sweep. Piechocki is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Piechocki shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Weiss napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Weiss trying his best to control but Piechocki has mounted him.
The referee warns Weiss that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Weiss is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Weiss bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

Piechocki is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Well Piechocki has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
