The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bennett closes this distance looking for a takedown but Hobbs circles away.

Bennett moves into range and clinches up with Hobbs.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Bennett enables Hobbs to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Bennett manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Bennett manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Hobbs manages to get himself to full guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

It looks like Bennett might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Lee Bennett hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Bennett jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Hobbs walks away with a smile on his face. Bennett gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Hobbs shoots in for a double leg but Bennett sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Bennett throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Monte Hobbs is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Hobbs is defended easily by Bennett.
Bennett changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Hobbs tries to avoid it but Bennett manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Hobbs to the ground. Hobbs escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Hobbs looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Bennett is fending him off so far but Hobbs persists. Nope, Bennett circles away and we're back to standing.

No joy there for Hobbs, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
