PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Paul McNamara (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Silver (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jack Silver is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Paul McNamara!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Jack Silver!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, William Gold and Sam Margolis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No luck for McNamara with that takedown attempt.
Silver leaves McNamara with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

McNamara rushes Silver and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

McNamara breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
McNamara checks a leg kick.
A slow jab from McNamara misses its intended target.
Silver connects with a leg kick. McNamara looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Silver fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Silver bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of McNamara's head.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Silver scores with a one two! McNamara had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Silver tries a head kick but it misses.
That kick from Silver tenderised McNamara's leg. McNamara is trying to keep his angry face on.
Silver throws a leg kick which misses McNamara's front leg but catches the back leg as McNamara tries to avoid it.
Silver has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as McNamara is landing a low percentage of strikes.
A low kick from Silver is predictable there
and McNamara counters with a good, hard body kick but Silver shrugs it off.

That's one minute gone in the round.
A head kick misses from Silver.

McNamara clinches up against the cage.
McNamara tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Paul McNamara. That's going to take a lot out of him.

McNamara decides to pull guard.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

McNamara has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Silver can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Silver trying to control the position from guard on top but McNamara is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
McNamara wants to sweep but no luck.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

McNamara is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Silver defends well.
Silver must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

McNamara is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

McNamara is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Silver is aware though and is defending well.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
McNamara looking to hit a scissor sweep but Silver is one step ahead there.

McNamara scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Silver looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Silver displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from McNamara.
Silver throws a front kick that sends McNamara stumbling back into the cage.
McNamara is breathing heavily.
Silver fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Silver scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Jack Silver seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Silver lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Silver lands with a kick to the temple. McNamara shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Silver lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Silver lands a big head kick that sends McNamara to the canvas! Silver follows up with strikes from the mount that forces the ref to step in and stop the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:40 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jack Silver!
Jack Silver decided to hype himself up post fight. It was going well but he went on about it a bit too long and the crowd turned on him a little.
