Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Flash Gordon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jesus Christ (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Flash Gordon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jesus Christ!
The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Shigeki Fujiwara and Ren Mimura.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gordon tries to close the distance and clinch but Christ swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Flash Gordon seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Christ shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Gordon's guard.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Christ controlling from the top position.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Christ thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Christ wants to control from the top but Gordon keeps moving.
Gordon knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Christ on the ground.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Jesus Christ hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Gordon closes the distance and clinches.
Christ drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Gordon gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Gordon comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.
It looks like Jesus Christ has been cut.
Gordon looks to throw an elbow but misses.
Gordon misses with a punch on the inside.
Gordon throws an elbow but it misses.
Gordon avoiding damage as Christ throws knees to the body.
Christ tries to pull guard but Gordon won't allow it.

With the fighters clinched against the ropes, Gordon creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Gordon lands an elbow inside that Christ shrugs off.
Gordon lands a left hand.
Christ is rocked!
That has opened up Jesus Christ's cut even more.
Christ drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Gordon gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Christ is still on wobbly legs! Can Gordon finish him?
Flash Gordon has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jesus Christ.

Christ pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the ropes.
Christ seems to have recovered his senses.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

I was talking to Gordon's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
Christ tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Gordon just stands there and leans against the ropes.
Clinched against the ropes, Gordon lands a big elbow that drops Christ! The ref dives in to save him from more shots - Christ is complaining that he's OK but he was done.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:49 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Flash Gordon!
