PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Roy Bambino (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cervantes De Leon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 1, fighting out of The Island, Roy Bambino!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 9 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Cervantes De Leon!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Sandra Marshall and Winston Alpacca.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bambino blocks a jab.
Cervantes De Leon seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
De Leon scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!


It looks like Roy Bambino has been cut.
A decent looking cross lands there for De Leon.
De Leon tries to close the distance and clinch up but Bambino swats him away and circles back towards the center.
De Leon throws a jab but it's blocked by Bambino.
De Leon throws an overhand right that lands on Bambino's shoulder, as Bambino tries to avoid the shot.
Bambino has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Bambino there as he acknowledges the shot.
De Leon scores with a nice right hand.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
De Leon dips to his left and cracks Bambino with an uppercut!


Bambino is rocked!
De Leon cracks Bambino with a good jab.
Oh Bambino is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Nice body punch from De Leon.
Bambino throws a solid leg kick but De Leon takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Bambino.
Bambino seems to have got his legs back now.
Bambino throws a series of strikes that have De Leon backpedaling.
De Leon tries to clinch up but Bambino circles away and keeps his distance.
De Leon misses with a wild combination.
De Leon ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Cervantes De Leon is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

De Leon smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
De Leon swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
De Leon goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
A decent looking cross lands there for Bambino.
Bambino tries to clinch up.
De Leon misses with the combination.
De Leon lunges at Bambino with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Bambino's hand.
De Leon lands a slapping body shot.
Bambino looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.
De Leon stalks Bambino and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Bambino's face. Bambino staggers backwards, shaken.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
De Leon lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Bambino circles away quickly and effectively.
De Leon tries to clinch there but Bambino circles away.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Bambino misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Bambino misses with a takedown attempt - De Leon sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
De Leon misses with a wild combination.
De Leon tries to clinch but Bambino moves out of range.
A jab from De Leon does it's job there.
De Leon is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Bambino had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.
De Leon blocks a head kick by Bambino.
Bambino ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Bambino misses with a series of wild punches.
De Leon tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Bambino paws at him with a jab and circles away.
De Leon keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Bambino misses with a double jab
and De Leon counters with a left and a right that stings Bambino.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Bambino takes a body punch but keeps moving.
De Leon lands a jab.
Jab, jab by De Leon - just one landing.
Bambino fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
De Leon throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Bambino sees it coming and avoids it easily.
De Leon connects with a right hand. Bambino shakes it off.
Bambino shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
De Leon fails with an attempt to clinch.
De Leon lands a jab to the head.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Bambino blocks a head kick by De Leon.
Bambino looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Roy Bambino. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Good shot there by De Leon.
Jab by Bambino.
De Leon is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Bambino.
Bambino takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
De Leon tries to close the distance and clinch but Bambino swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Bambino swinging wildly here.
Bambino misses with a jab, cross combination.
De Leon tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Bambino was well out of range. Poor timing from De Leon.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Bambino tries to close the distance and clinch but De Leon swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
De Leon connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Bambino's hands.
This is turning into a torrid day at the office for Bambino. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery.
De Leon avoids the head kick by Bambino.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Cervantes De Leon dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Roy Bambino's cut.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


De Leon scores with a jab to the head.
This entire fight has taken place on the feet so far and you wonder whether Bambino might be better served trying to take this one to the ground because he's losing the standup battle so far.
A cross from De Leon lands.
De Leon lands with a nice body punch.
No joy there for Bambino, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
De Leon tries to clinch up but Bambino circles away and keeps his distance.
Bambino ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
De Leon tries to clinch but Bambino moves out of range.
De Leon scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
De Leon thuds his right hand into Bambino's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
De Leon rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Bambino moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
De Leon rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Bambino counters with a nice uppercut.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
De Leon swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
De Leon tries to clinch there but Bambino circles away.
Bambino throws a combination but it was largely blocked by De Leon.

That's one minute gone in the round.
De Leon fails with an attempt to clinch.
Bambino is looking to clinch but De Leon is avoiding it.
De Leon blocks a head kick by Bambino.
De Leon is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Oooooh!!! De Leon has knocked Bambino down with a huge combo! De Leon steps away and waves a wobbly Bambino back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!
This has been an exciting period of action!
De Leon clobbers Bambino with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Bambino is sent reeling backwards by a solid uppercut. He barely regains his balance and De Leon moves in for the kill throwing a continuous barrage of punches that force the ref to step in.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:40 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Cervantes De Leon!
Our winner, Cervantes De Leon, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
