Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Risto Korpisuo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kos Pellegrino (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Korpisuo comes to the cage accompanied by Eläkeläiset - Humpparaakki. Pellegrino has chosen Meiju Suvas - Pure Mua as his entrance music. Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Kos Pellegrino enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 21 - 26 - 1, fighting out of New York, Risto Korpisuo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 22 - 8 - 1, fighting out of New York, Kos Pellegrino!
The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Russell Pearce and Reed Andrews.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Korpisuo misses with an uppercut. Pellegrino saw that one coming.
A punch combination from Korpisuo misses.
Pellegrino throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Korpisuo closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Korpisuo is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Pellegrino wants to get back to full guard.
Pellegrino avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Korpisuo.
Korpisuo trying to mount his opponent but Pellegrino defends it.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Korpisuo in particular looking to stall.

Pellegrino is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Korpisuo's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Korpisuo's back!

Pellegrino slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.

Pellegrino is controlling his opponent, waiting for an opportunity to finish.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Pellegrino tries to get the hooks in deep but Korpisuo pushed the leg off.

Pellegrino biding his time, looking for the opening.
You can see the frustration on Korpisuo's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

Pellegrino has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Korpisuo's body.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Korpisuo manages to reverse the position and now he's in Pellegrino's guard. Nice work there by Korpisuo.
Korpisuo throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Pellegrino works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Pellegrino is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
Korpisuo tries to control but Pellegrino wriggling away.
Korpisuo tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Pellegrino regains half guard.
Korpisuo throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Korpisuo thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Korpisuo takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Pellegrino is trying to get back to full guard.
Korpisuo wants to control but Pellegrino is keeping him busy.
Pellegrino is looking to control Korpisuo's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Pellegrino avoid being mounted?

Korpisuo is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Korpisuo is looking to take a break and control but Pellegrino is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Korpisuo is really struggling to control Pellegrino but he's trying to hold on to the position.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Korpisuo tries to pass to full mount but Pellegrino defends it.

Korpisuo is just content to waste time from the top position. Pellegrino takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.

Pellegrino is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Korpisuo looking to sit in guard and control but Pellegrino gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Pellegrino stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Korpisuo swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Korpisuo wants to hit a switch here but Pellegrino passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Korpisuo there!
Korpisuo keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Risto Korpisuo dominated that second round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Korpisuo just misses with a punch to the body.
A head kick from Korpisuo lands but Pellegrino takes it in his stride.

Korpisuo goes for a double leg but Pellegrino avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Pellegrino continues to drive forward.
Pellegrino putting his Muay Thai to good use. He has Korpisuo in a tight clinch and is doing some damage with knees to the body.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Pellegrino unloads a knee to the mid-section. Korpisuo lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.

Pellegrino tries to land a knee to the head but Korpisuo blocks with his arms.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Pellegrino.
Pellegrino lands with a short shot to the head.
Korpisuo avoiding damage as Pellegrino throws knees to the body.
Pellegrino lands a right hand that snaps the head of Korpisuo backwards.
Korpisuo wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Pellegrino has him pressed against the cage.

Pellegrino scores with an uppercut up the middle.
Pellegrino tries to land knees in the clinch but Korpisuo avoids the damage to the body.
Pellegrino throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Korpisuo blocks it with crossed arms.
Pellegrino pushes Korpisuo back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
Korpisuo wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Pellegrino has him pressed against the cage.
Kos Pellegrino has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Korpisuo jumps guard and drags Pellegrino to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Kos Pellegrino wasn't active enough on the ground.

and Korpisuo counters by moving into the clinch.
Pellegrino misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Korpisuo.
Korpisuo changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Pellegrino fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Korpisuo closes this distance looking for a takedown but Pellegrino circles away.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Kos Pellegrino comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Korpisuo has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
