PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jordan Strike (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Verne Robinson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Robinson has chosen Chase is better than the Catch by Motorhead as his entrance music. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jordan Strike!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Verne Robinson!
The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Shigeki Sano and Tatsuya Matsuyama.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Robinson slips under a jab.
Robinson has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Strike is landing a low percentage of strikes.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Robinson has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Strike finds it's way round the side to connect with Robinson's head.

Strike's corner calls for a 1-2. Strike obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.

and Robinson counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Robinson seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Robinson is looking for the mount but instead finds himself back in full guard.
Robinson seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Robinson looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
This has been an exciting period of action!
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Robinson is looking for a kimura but Strike is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Robinson to get the leverage.
Robinson wants to pass to mount but Strike is defending the position.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jordan Strike dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Strike scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Strike pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Robinson uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Strike.
A left and a right from Strike both land. Nice combination.
Strike lands a slapping body shot.
Robinson shoots in looking for a takedown. Strike tries to sprawl out of it but Robinson keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Strike manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Strike knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Robinson on the ground.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Strike can't keep his opponent in guard - Robinson advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Strike is looking to escape.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Robinson moves nicely into side control.
Strike stops Robinson from passing to mount.

Robinson should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Robinson is working for a rear naked choke. Strike is not defending it well and Robinson has tightened it up quickly! This could be all over! Strike refuses to tap and goes to sleep, forcing the referee to intervene. A little trickle of blood came out of Strike's nose as his head slumped to the floor. That is naaaasty!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:36 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Verne Robinson!
In his post fight interview, Verne Robinson gave a big smile as he said 'I expect a win and that's what I got. I would like to thank the promoter for the match. lastly, I would like to tell my opponent to get a new job. You are nothing but a pompous arse that will never be able to match someone like me. You have no business in my cage - I suggest you stay out of it.'.
