PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Chalky White (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Thomas Neidhart (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Chalky White!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Thomas Neidhart!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Alan Glass and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
White avoids a kick to the body.
White ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
A telegraphed right hand from Neidhart misses the target.
Neidhart throws a lazy uppercut

and White counters with a single leg into guard. Neidhart didn't expect that.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Neidhart is trying to control the position from the bottom.
White with a flurry of punches that miss.
White pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Neidhart is keeping the position for now.
White throwing strikes but missing.

Neidhart is looking for a triangle but White pushes his legs off easily.
White postures up.
Neidhart is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

White fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Neidhart manages to avoid it.
White moves in looking to clinch but Neidhart pushes him off.
White cracks Neidhart with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
White misses the shot to the body.
White moves out of range as Neidhart throws a body kick.
Neidhart is looking to score with low kicks.
White ducks right into an uppercut from Neidhart.
Neidhart is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by White.
White misses the jab.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Neidhart throws a lazy right hand but White sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
White throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
White dips down and scores with a jab to the body.

and Neidhart counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
White doesn't manage to clinch there - Neidhart circles away.

Neidhart is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by White.
Neidhart slips a jab and a cross from White.
Neidhart is on the wrong end of a nice combination from White.
White is looking to wear down Neidhart with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as White checks a leg kick.
Neidhart slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.

White tries to bum rush Neidhart with a series of wild strikes but Neidhart uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

White shoots in for a takedown but Neidhart shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Neidhart rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but White moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

White shoots in and bounces Neidhart off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Chalky White overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
White is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

White closes the distance and clinches.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

A quick uppercut on the inside from White.
White has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Neidhart is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
White drops down looking for an ankle pick but Neidhart pulls his leg out and moves away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!


Neidhart looks to land a right hand but White moved out of range.
Neidhart tried to score with a low kick but White checks it.
White with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Neidhart to score with a decent uppercut.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Neidhart manages to work his way to half guard, despite White's best efforts.
We've been hearing that White has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.
Neidhart is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute White jumps into side control!

Well I reckon that's a shut out for White, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
