The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bazanov slips under a jab from Smith.

Bazanov shoots for a double leg takedown but Smith sprawls well. He's pushed Bazanov's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Smith enables Bazanov to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Smith manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Bazanov's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Smith connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Bazanov scrambles back to his feet.
Smith throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Smith has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Smith throws a leg kick which misses Bazanov's front leg but catches the back leg as Bazanov tries to avoid it.

Bazanov seems to have got his legs back now.
Smith rushes Bazanov with punches - Bazanov moves straight backwards instead of circling and gets clipped by the second strike... and the third... and the fourth! Oh, Bazanov goes down! Smith follows up with more strikes and the ref steps in to end the bout!
