PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Orion Contras (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Obed Flying Fox (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Obed Flying Fox told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Contras gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Flying Fox is looking for a takedown.
Flying Fox is trying to pull guard but Contras has him pressed against the cage.

Contras manages to break the clinch.

Contras throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Flying Fox was covering up waiting for the punch and Contras finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Flying Fox wants to sweep here but Contras controlling him for the moment.

Contras is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Contras knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Flying Fox on the ground.
Flying Fox wants to sweep here but Contras controlling him for the moment.

Flying Fox had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Contras defends it easily.

Contras gets to his feet - Flying Fox follows without any prompting.

Contras swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Flying Fox.
Contras throws a one two combo.
Flying Fox will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Orion Contras has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Obed Flying Fox.
Contras keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Contras enables Flying Fox to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Contras manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Contras wants to stand and escape but Flying Fox is having none of it.
Contras seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Flying Fox drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Flying Fox jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Obed Flying Fox will probably get the nod.

Flying Fox is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Contras rolls with it to try and escape but Flying Fox cranks on the arm and Contras is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
