PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between King Gonawyn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rez Cortez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gonawyn comes to the cage accompanied by Crush 'em - Megadeth. Cortez has chosen Can We Still Be Friends as his entrance music. Rez Cortez will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Rez Cortez!
The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Roger Salmon and Ryoma Takatsuka.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cortez throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Cortez is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Gonawyn.
Cortez listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
Cortez misses with a looping right.
Cortez throws the left hand but Gonawyn avoids the punch easily.
Cortez connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Gonawyn's hands.

It looks like King Gonawyn has been cut.
Cortez swings for the body but Gonawyn moves out of range.
Gonawyn slips under a jab.
Gonawyn really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Cortez throws a hook but Gonawyn avoids it easily.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Cortez lands a big uppercut and Gonawyn crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Gonawyn looks OK. Cortez waves Gonawyn back to his feet!

Gonawyn is rocked!
Cortez misses with a hook.
Oh Gonawyn is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Gonawyn glances at the clock... BAM! Cortez nails him with a big right hand! A momentary lapse in concentration sends Gonawyn crashing to the mat! The referee steps in and this one is over! Damn, Gonawyn is out of it, he thinks the ref is his opponent!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Rez Cortez!
