PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight kickboxing rules bout between Simon Kanitz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Paul Chan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Simon Kanitz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Paul Chan!
The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Albert Achterberg and Radbod Blank.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kanitz misses with an attempted mid kick.
Kanitz throws a leg kick

and Chan counters with a right, a left and a big uppercut that drops Kanitz to the mat! Chan runs to a neutral corner to get the count going quickly. 3,4,5,6 and Kanitz is back to his feet. He seems ready to continue - the ref agrees so we're back at it!


Kanitz is rocked!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Chan looks for the body kick but Kanitz saw that one coming.
Oh Kanitz is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Simon Kanitz seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Chan moves out of range as Kanitz strikes.
Chan pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Kanitz scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Chan doesn't seem bothered though.
Kanitz lands with a cross.
Chan is looking to land body kicks.
Kanitz swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Kanitz looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Chan doesn't manage to clinch there - Kanitz circles away.
Chan misses with a few strikes there.
Kanitz moves out of range of the body kick from Chan.
Kanitz throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Chan sees it coming and avoids it easily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Chan doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Chan throws a head kick that misses.
Chan ducks right into an uppercut from Kanitz.
Kanitz keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

Kanitz drives through and clinches with Chan against the ropes.
Kanitz cracks Chan with a nice body shot.
Kanitz misses with a hook from the clinch.
Chan tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Kanitz avoids it.
Kanitz can't find room to land a body shot as Chan controls the action.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Chan looking to throw knees to the head but Kanitz is blocking nicely.
Kanitz tries to work over Chan's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.

Kanitz lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.
Kanitz avoiding damage as Chan throws knees to the body.
Kanitz throws a head punch that misses.

Kanitz lands a nice shot to the body.
Kanitz lands a body shot in the clinch.
Chan misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Kanitz.
Kanitz blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Chan wants to get back to striking at distance but Kanitz won't allow it.
Chan wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Kanitz has him pressed against the ropes.
Kanitz lands a nice shot to the body.
Chan looks winded!

Chan wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Kanitz lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Chan or not.
Kanitz scores with a shoulder strike.
Kanitz throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Chans head.
Kanitz lands a hook to the side of the head.
Kanitz creates a bit of distance and cracks Chan with a big uppercut! Chan goes down! The referee pushes Kanitz away into a neutral corner and starts the count. 4,5,6,7. Will Chan make it up in time? He's still flopping around all over the place! The referee has called off the fight! Kanitz takes it!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:49 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punch). Simon Kanitz!
