Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Usain Watts (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Eric Lawson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Watts comes to the cage accompanied by 9000 Watts. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 4 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 41 - 22 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Usain Watts!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 24 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Eric Lawson!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Don Winkell and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lawson fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Watts checks it well.
Lawson is trying hard to land a takedown here. Watts sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Lawson has closed the distance and engaged Watts in a clinch.
Lawson wants a takedown.
Watts tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Watts tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Lawson scores with an uppercut up the middle.
Lawson tries for a takedown but Watts manages to get underhooks.
Usain Watts has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Eric Lawson.
Lawson wants to break free but Watts has control.
Watts can't find room to land a body shot as Lawson controls the action.
Watts doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
I was talking to Watts's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.

Watts jumps guard and drags Lawson to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Lawson won't allow Watts to sweep him here.

Watts is not content to let Lawson control the position.

Watts has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Lawson is working away from the top position though.
Watts desperately trying to maintain half guard.
Lawson slips a nice elbow through Watts's hands, connecting with Watts's forehead.
Watts keeps control of the position for the meantime.
Lawson wants to take a breather but Watts is having none of it.
Watts moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Watts is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Lawson throws a big right hand that misses.
Watts is pulling down on Lawson's head to control his posture.
Lawson looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Lawson shoots for a double leg takedown but Watts sprawls well. He's pushed Lawson's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Lawson takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Lawson moves in looking to clinch but Watts pushes him off.
Lawson scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Watts thows a left - swing and a miss!
Watts misses with a looping right.
Watts lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.


It looks like Eric Lawson has been cut.
Lawson shoots in but no luck this time.
Watts slaps away a takedown attempt from Lawson, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Lawson fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Watts to the ground. Lawson is now in Watts's guard.
Lawson slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Watts controlling Lawson's posture.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Watts tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Lawson lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Watts trying to control the position.
Lawson content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Watts controls Lawson momentarily but Lawson frees himself.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Lawson trying to control the position from guard on top but Watts is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Lawson not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Eric Lawson will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Eric Lawson's cut.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Lawson tries for a takedown but Watts circles away easily
and Watts counters with a low kick, right behind Lawson 's knee.
Watts will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Watts cracks Lawson with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Lawson looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can Watts finish him?


Lawson is rocked!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Lawson drops his hands momentarily. Watts doesn't need a second invitation, landing a shot to the temple. Lawson staggers and falls to the mat and the ref dives in to save him from any more punishment. Lawson doesn't seem happy with the stoppage but he was done.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:31 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Usain Watts!
Usain Watts seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
