With a record of 11 - 7 - 0, fighting out of London, Emil Yanenko!
The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, James Atkins and Sam Margolis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Mercado scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Yanenko is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Yanenko is working to avoid the ground and pound but Mercado connects with a decent elbow.
Yanenko parries the strikes from Mercado easily there. Mercado is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Yanenko to escape.
Yanenko is looking to reverse the position.
Mercado tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
Mercado in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
Yanenko wants to control but Mercado postures up.
Yanenko is looking to regain half guard here but Mercado keeps moving and retains side control.
We've been hearing that Mercado has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.
Mercado has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Mercado seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Yanenko does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Yanenko has found himself in a tricky position here. He's been working his transitions in training so let's see if he can work his way out of it.
Mercado works his foot free and advances to mount.
Yanenko wants to hold on but Mercado pushes him away.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Yanenko can't escape the position.

Yanenko tries to lock up and control but Mercado gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Yanenko is working to get back to half guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
