Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Colin St John (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cody Zeller (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). St John comes to the cage accompanied by Uilleann Pipes. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Colin St John!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Cody Zeller!
The judges for this bout are James Glass, Paul Tew and Steven Brown.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Zeller fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Cody Zeller seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Some wild striking there from Zeller.
St John on the wrong end of a kick to the body.
St John misses with a wild body shot.
St John looks to land a left hand but Zeller moved out of range nicely.

and St John counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
St John not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
St John prevents Zeller from improving his position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
St John is keen to just control but Zeller is a slippery customer.
Zeller is looking for a sweep. St John is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

St John takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
St John is thwarting Zeller's attempts to control the position.
The fighters are battling for position here. Zeller manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
St John throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

St John avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
St John not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Zeller is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
We've been hearing that St John has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.
Zeller controls St John momentarily but St John frees himself.

St John wants to control from the top but Zeller keeps moving.

St John is pushing down on Zeller's leg trying to pass to half guard. Zeller is fighting to maintain full guard but St John has managed to sneak the leg through.
Zeller is not content to let St John control the position.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Zeller wants to control but St John is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Zeller wants to get back to full guard.
St John tries to pass the half guard into mount. Zeller knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

St John is controlling the pace.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Zeller stuffs the takedown.
Zeller tries to score with a low kick but St John moves his leg out of the way.
St John walks into a left hand.


It looks like Colin St John has been cut.
St John uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Zeller.
Zeller throws a body punch but St John moves out of range.
Zeller uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from St John.
Zeller shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Nice uppercut there from St John.
Zeller connects with a right hand. St John shakes it off.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
St John slips a straight right by Zeller.

Zeller slips under a jab.
St John ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Zeller moves away.
Zeller misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
A jab from Zeller does it's job there.
St John throws a lazy right hand but Zeller sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
St John looks for a takedown but Zeller sprawls well.
A looping hook to the body misses from Zeller. St John does a little dance to reset his feet.
St John throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
St John missing with a left hand there. Zeller was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Zeller swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by St John.
St John connects with a single shot there.
St John shoots in but no luck this time.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Cody Zeller dominated that round.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Zeller closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
St John is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Zeller's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Zeller's back!
Zeller tries to escape the position.
Will St John go for the finish here or will he try and keep control of the position?
St John is really struggling to control Zeller but he's trying to hold on to the position.

Zeller is trying to remain composed but St John is hammering down strikes to the side of his head.
St John lands with a nice looking elbow that stuns Zeller.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Zeller manages to reverse the position and now he's in St John's guard. Nice work there by Zeller.

Zeller wants to control from the top but St John keeps moving.
St John controls Zeller momentarily but Zeller frees himself.

Zeller stands and throws St John's legs to the side, diving into side control.
St John regains half guard there - taking advantage of Zeller's attempt to lay and pray for a moment.
Zeller throws a strike but St John avoids it easily and moves to full guard.

St John is looking to sweep but instead, Zeller has passed into half guard.
Zeller not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Zeller seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but St John does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Zeller is working for a kimura but St John is defending it quite comfortably.

Zeller is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and St John defends it well.
St John wants to control but Zeller is keeping busy.

St John is staying active underneath Zeller, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Zeller has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at Condor Training. Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Zeller connects with a nice short shot to St John's temple.

Zeller misses with a head shot. St John uses the momentum to regain guard.
St John wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Zeller is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

and Zeller counters with a left and a right that hurts St John! He wobbles and falls to the floor - he's in big trouble! Zeller jumps into full mount!


St John is rocked!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Zeller trying to control but St John is having none of it.
Oh St John is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Zeller thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
St John is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
St John seems to have got his legs back now.
St John is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Zeller is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Colin St John overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Zeller has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of St John's face.

Zeller looking to control but St John is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Zeller lands a big shot to the head and St John winces in pain. He's tapped out due to strikes!
