Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Tristin Shonuck (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nir Sosa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shonuck comes to the cage accompanied by Johnny Cash - God's Gonna Cut You Down. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Tristin Shonuck!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Nir Sosa!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, William Peck and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Shonuck is in a tricky position. We've heard reports from his gym mates at Nights Watch MMA Academy that he's been drilling escapes, so let's see if he can get back to his feet.
Still in half guard, Sosa seems content to control.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

and Shonuck counters with a big head kick but Sosa shrugs it off.

Shonuck throws a series of punches but Sosa moves out of range.

Shonuck with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Sosa to score with a decent uppercut.
Sosa cracks Shonuck with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.

Shonuck takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.

Shonuck feints a jab promting Sosa to slip. Shonuck then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Sosa slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Shonuck throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Sosa.
Sosa rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Shonuck moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Sosa throws out a loose jab but Shonuck uses good head movement to avoid it.
Nir Sosa seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Shonuck throws the left hand but Sosa avoids the punch easily.
Sosa lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Sosa accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Nir Sosa showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

A decent looking cross lands there for Sosa.
Shonuck scores with a one two! Sosa had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.

Sosa goes for a double leg but Shonuck avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Shonuck continues to drive forward.
Tristin Shonuck has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Nir Sosa.

Shonuck is looking to control Sosa's arms but Sosa gets an underhook and turns him. Now Shonuck has his back to the cage.

Shonuck manages to break the clinch.
Sosa sizes up Shonuck with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Sosa throws a leg kick which misses Shonuck's front leg but catches the back leg as Shonuck tries to avoid it.
Sosa fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Shonuck.
Sosa throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Shonuck's waist but Shonuck gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Sosa off to one side.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Sosa works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Sosa ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Sosa has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Shonuck finds it's way round the side to connect with Sosa's head.

Shonuck is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.

Sosa takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

Shonuck takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.

Sosa fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Sosa buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Sosa fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Shonuck looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Sosa tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Shonuck is able to avoid easily.

Shonuck dips to his left and cracks Sosa with an uppercut!
Sosa throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Shonuck pivots, looking for a leg kick but Sosa is out of range and Shonuck settles back down.

Sosa fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Sosa feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Shonucks jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

And that's the end of the fight!
Nir Sosa comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Sosa has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
