Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Travis Sheppard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tars Tarkas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The fight MMA fans around the world have waited their entire lives for!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Travis Sheppard!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Tars Tarkas!
The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Alyssa Summers and Eddie Farnsworth.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Tarkas fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Sheppard, pushing him back against the cage.

Tarkas has picked Sheppard up - he's going for a ride! Tarkas dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
Sheppard works his way to full guard. Good work.
Tarkas sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Sheppard might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Tarkas tries to stand but Sheppard is controlling from the bottom.
Sheppard is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Sheppard has a closed guard, preventing Tarkas from standing up.

Tarkas stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Sheppard throws a sloppy head kick and Tarkas moves out of range easily.

Tarkas feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Tars Tarkas.
Sheppard takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Tarkas doesn't manage to clinch there - Sheppard circles away.

Tarkas shoots in and bounces Sheppard off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Sheppard is on top in guard.

Sheppard is working Tarkas over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Tarkas shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Sheppard napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Tarkas is trying to escape the mount.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Tarkas can do anything to dispel that myth.

Tarkas wants to control but Sheppard is having none of it.
Sheppard throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Tarkas because Sheppard loaded up on that one.
Tarkas keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

Tarkas is breathing heavily.
Sheppard lands a couple of good shots and Tarkas has given up his back, trying to escape the position!

Tars Tarkas showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Tarkas is looking to take a break and control but Sheppard is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Tarkas is trying to control. Sheppard wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Sheppard is trying to stand back up but Tarkas is controlling him
Sheppard is pressing down on Tarkas's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Sheppard throws a chopping leg kick but Tarkas manages to avoid taking any serious damage.

Tarkas shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Sheppard is trying to defend but Tarkas finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Tarkas in particular looking to stall.
Sheppard wants to get back to his feet.
Tarkas passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Sheppard!

Tarkas is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Sheppard has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Tarkas throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.

Tarkas jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Sheppard is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Sheppard and Tarkas has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Sheppard is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

Sheppard wants to sweep but Tarkas has passed to side control!

Tars Tarkas comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Tarkas has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
