PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jack Jone (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Carlos Condit (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Carlos Condit was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jack Jone!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Carlos Condit!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Gwen Towbar and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Condit tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Condit moves into range and clinches up with Jone.

Condit pulls guard effortlessly.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Condit has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Jone can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Condit thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Condit keeping moving, preventing Jone from controlling successfully.

Condit isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Jone stacks Condit on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Jone!
Condit manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Condit looking for submissions off his back.
Condit is trying to get back to full guard.

Condit looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.

The fighters are battling for position here. Condit manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

Condit looking for subs off his back but Jone has passed one foot through into half guard.
Jone looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Condit is looking for a sweep. Jone is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Jone wants to pass to mount but Condit is defending the position.

Jone is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Condit doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Jone.
Jone looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Jone is keen to just control but Condit is a slippery customer.
Condit moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Condit working for a triangle but Jone defends it easily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Condit kicks Jone off and gets to his feet.
Condit moves forwards but Jone connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Carlos Condit seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Condit gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Jone counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
A punch combination from Condit misses.
Condit tries to clinch there but Jone circles away.
Jone scores with a head kick.
Jone wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Condit looks winded!
Jone connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Condit's hands.
Condit gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Condit misses with a two punch combination.
Condit blocks a head kick by Jone.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Condit swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Jone counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Jone scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Jone buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Condit takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Jone wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Nice uppercut lands for Jone. That snapped Condit's head back.
Jone throws a head kick that misses.
Condit throws a head kick that misses.
Jone lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Jone fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Jone feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Condit's calf.
Jone connects with a jab.
Jone darts in looking for a takedown but Condit gets double underhooks and turns Jone into the cage.
Jone jumps guard but Condit stands there with Jone around his waist. Jone gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jack Jone. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Condit's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Condit throws a head kick but Jone moves out of range.
Jone shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Condit eats them both and turns towards Jone to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Condit on the wrong end of a nice jab.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jack Jone dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Condit throws a sloppy head kick and Jone moves out of range easily.
Jack Jone is winning the standup battle so far.

Condit changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Jone looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Condit lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.

Condit wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Jone, who protects the arm well.
Jone is trying to get back to his feet.
Condit in side control lands a decent elbow.
Condit scores with a couple of short elbows.

Condit tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Condit wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Jone, who protects the arm well.
Jone knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Condit on the ground.
Condit is breathing heavily.

Jone prevents Condit from moving into mount.
Jone can't do much from the bottom here.
Jone is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

Condit seems to be working for a kimura but Jone defends the submission attempt.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Condit seems to be looking for submissions.
Condit misses with a head shot. Jone uses the momentum to regain guard.
Jone lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.
Jone trying to control but Condit is working from the bottom.
Jone is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Condit is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Condit is on top in guard.

Condit passes Jone's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Condit not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Jone avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Condit.

Condit wants to work for an arm triangle but Jone is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Condit is working for a submission of some sort.
Jone manages to get to full guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Condit throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Jone works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Carlos Condit showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!


Jone wants to clinch up but Condit keeps it at a distance.

Condit looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Jone lands with a kick to the ribs.
Jone stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Jone wants it to stay on the feet.
Jone lands a lovely overhand right.
Jone avoids the head kick by Condit.
Jone lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.

Condit throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Jone was covering up waiting for the punch and Condit finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Jone is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Jone is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Condit defends well.
Carlos Condit has got the better of the ground game so far.
Condit takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Condit trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Jone is trying to keep Condit in close.
Condit throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

Jone uses the cage to get back to his feet.
Jone leaves Condit with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Jack Jone has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Carlos Condit.
Jone lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
Condit will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Jone connects with the punch.
Condit walks into a jab.
Jone goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
A right-left combo lands from Jone.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Jone goes for a double leg but Condit avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Condit continues to drive forward.
Condit drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Condit escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Jone lands a two punch combo.

Condit closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Jone is trying to control but can't.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Condit working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Condit works his way into full mount!
Jone avoids a series of strikes thrown by Condit.

Condit is working for a guillotine from mount but Jone frees his head quite easily.
Condit has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Jone is desperately trying to improve his position but Condit has a good base and remains in mount.
Condit working some short elbows here. He postures up to throw some more ground and pound but Jone slips a leg through to get back to half guard. Nice work.
Jone is looking to escape.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Condit has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Jone is in all sorts of trouble here.
Condit raining down shots from the mount!
Condit putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound!
Jone wants to hold on but Condit pushes him away.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
The referee warns Jone that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Condit wants to finish this one by submission but Jone is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Condit.
Condit working the ground and pound effectively.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Jack Jone.
I think Jone has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
