Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Cortez Brennan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ed Barton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ed Barton is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Cortez Brennan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ed Barton!
The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Francis DeMontford and Steve Erwin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Brennan has taken the fight to the clinch.
The referee is keeping an eye on Brennan - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Barton has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Barton wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Brennan has him pressed against the cage.

Barton jumps guard and drags Brennan to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Brennan wants to get up but he can't break Barton's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Brennan is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Brennan's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Brennan stands up from guard. Let's bang!

That's one minute gone in the round.

Brennan looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

Brennan is looking for submissions but instead, Barton has regained full guard.
Brennan postures up.
Barton might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Brennan haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Brennan would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Brennan thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Brennan wants to stand and escape but instead Barton has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Brennan working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Barton doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Barton manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Barton stands up over his opponent, looking to dive in with a big punch. Here he comes, superman style! Oh, the punch misses and Brennan has got him in a triangle choke for good measure! Oh no! Barton manages to get his head free but now Brennan has transitioned to an armbar! Barton grimaces and is forced to tap! Beautiful Jiu Jitsu from Brennan! I'd be surprised if that didn't end up as submission of the night!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Cortez Brennan!
