Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Simon Phoenix (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Piotr Rasputin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Simon Phoenix !
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Piotr Rasputin !
The judges for this bout are Paulsen Ambrosius, Radbod Blank and Albert Achterberg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Phoenix missing with a left hand there. Rasputin was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Rasputin shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Phoenix pinned against the cage. Phoenix gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Rasputin with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Phoenix to score with a decent uppercut.
Rasputin ducks right into an uppercut from Phoenix .
Rasputin shoots in for a takedown but Phoenix shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Rasputin slips a jab from Phoenix .
Rasputin takes one to the chin there.

Phoenix moves into range and clinches up with Rasputin .
Rasputin wants a takedown but no success here.
Simon Phoenix has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Piotr Rasputin .
Rasputin is looking to take this one to the mat.
Rasputin tries to score a body lock takedown but Phoenix shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Rasputin changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Phoenix fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Rasputin takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.

It looks like Simon Phoenix has been cut.

Rasputin tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Phoenix is in a tricky position but he's been working on his transitions down at Dark Horse MMA Academy, so we'll see if he gets out of it.
Phoenix tries to bench press Rasputin off him but Rasputin keeps the position.

Rasputin looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Phoenix is avoiding damage well.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Phoenix struggling a bit here.
Phoenix is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Rasputin asserts his dominance and retains side control.

Rasputin tries for a kimura but Phoenix is defending well.
Rasputin throws a strike aimed at the side of Phoenix 's head but Phoenix avoids it well.
Phoenix taking punishment in the form of punches.
Phoenix is looking for a sweep.
Rasputin working the ground and pound from side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Rasputin wants to lay and pray for a moment but Phoenix keeps working.
Phoenix can't do much from the bottom here.
Phoenix tries to bench press Rasputin off him but Rasputin keeps the position.

Phoenix wants to control but Rasputin postures up.
Check out the look on Rasputin 's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
Rasputin misses with the ground and pound.
Rasputin has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Rasputin is putting a hurting on Phoenix here, landing some big shots from side control.

Phoenix tries to bench press Rasputin off him but Rasputin keeps the position.
Oh Phoenix is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Rasputin landing with strikes to the head and body from side control.

Phoenix is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
Rasputin in side control here. He's dropped a big elbow there and Phoenix looks hurt! Oh, he is hurt! Rasputin turns on the heat and pounds him out for a TKO victory! Good killer instinct there!

A relieved looking Piotr Rasputin thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
