Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Nathan Cortez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Martin Kampemann (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kampemann has chosen pretty enough as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, Nathan Cortez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 5 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Martin Kampemann!
The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Paul Aken and Nard Betker.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kampemann blocks a low kick nicely.
Cortez throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Kampemann sees it coming and avoids it easily.

Cortez is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Kampemann's half guard.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Cortez wants to work for an arm triangle but Kampemann is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Cortez is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Kampemann is just riding it out for now. Cortez eventually gives up the hold.

Kampemann must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Kampemann wants to stand but Cortez is controlling his posture from full guard.

Cortez looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Kampemann has picked Cortez up and slammed him! Cortez can't keep hold of the triangle and Kampemann manages to pass to side control!

Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Kampemann!

Cortez closes the distance and lands a one-two.

Cortez gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Cortez has his foot on Kampemann's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Kampemann works his way back into a safe position though.
Kampemann stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Cortez swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Kampemann drops back, looking for a kneebar! Cortez looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Cortez looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Cortez!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Kampemann is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Kampemann is trying to buck Cortez off.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Nathan Cortez will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Cortez dives in and grabs Kampemann's left leg, looking for a takedown. Kampemann pushes down on Cortez's head and hops out.

Kampemann tightens his grip and picks Cortez up, before dumping him to the ground. Cortez manages to land in guard.

Cortez escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Kampemann gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Kampemann stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Cortez swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Kampemann slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Kampemann thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Cortez if he has to take too many more of those.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Horrible takedown by Cortez or perhaps it was just good defense by Kampemann which made him look bad.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Martin Kampemann.
I think Kampemann has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
