The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Perez closes the distance but Benson moves to the side
and Benson counters with a straight right hand.
Benson looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Perez takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Benson scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Perez doesn't seem bothered though.
Perez tries to clinch but Benson moves out of range.
Perez lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
Perez tries to close the distance and clinch up but Benson swats him away and circles back towards the center.

A chopping leg kick lands by Benson.

Benson rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Perez moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Perez looks to clinch
enabling Benson to counter with a crisp jab.

Perez uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Benson.
A slow jab from Perez misses its intended target.
Benson lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.

Perez throws a head kick but Benson moves out of range.
Perez has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.

It looks like Luis Alberto Perez has been cut.
Benson comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Benson just misses with a punch to the body.
Benson throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Perez on the side of the head.
Perez shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

Perez is rocked!
Benson lands hard precision jab right on the jaw that stiffens Perez up and sends him tumbling to the mat! The ref grabs Benson from behind before he can pounce. Some folks in the crowd didn't like that stoppage, but I saw Perez's eyes roll way back in his head, he was done.
