Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Chuck Gilbert (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Erik Sena (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sena tries to close the distance and clinch but Gilbert swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Gilbert throws a sloppy head kick and Sena moves out of range easily.
Erik Sena seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Sena shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Gilbert counters with an inside leg kick.

Gilbert clinches.

Gilbert has hold of one of Sena's legs. Sena is fighting the takedown attempt but Gilbert gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Gilbert throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Sena works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Gilbert postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

Gilbert gets to his feet - Sena follows without any prompting.
Sena tries a head kick but it misses.
Sena has his takedown stuffed
and Gilbert counters with a nice kick to the body.

Gilbert wants to clinch up but Sena keeps it at a distance.

and Gilbert counters by clinching up.
Chuck Gilbert has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Erik Sena.
Gilbert tries to score a body lock takedown but Sena shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Gilbert manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Gilbert has his foot on Sena's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Sena works his way back into a safe position though.
Gilbert manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Sena manages to get himself to full guard.
Gilbert might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Sena has an active guard here but Gilbert has managed to pass into half guard.
Sena really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Gilbert. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Gilbert thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Sena's head.

Sena is trying to maintain the position but Gilbert is very close to passing his half guard.

Gilbert has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Sena is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Gilbert yanks on the arm and Sena is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Gilbert.
