Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Joey Nix (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Evan Better (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nix comes to the cage accompanied by Gorilla Militia by Bliss n Eso. Better has chosen Mother by Danzig as his entrance music. Evan Better has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Better blocks a head kick by Nix.

Evan Better seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Better is stalling here. Nix is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Better seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Nix has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

Nix is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Better is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Better avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Nix.

Better is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Nix knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Nix for a finish.

Better has found himself in a tricky position here. He's been working his transitions in training so let's see if he can work his way out of it.

That was a close round but I would say that Joey Nix will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Better lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Nix has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Nix and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
Better thuds his shin into the meat of Nix's side.
Nix takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.

A head kick from Nix lands but Better takes it in his stride.

Better moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.

Better tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Better fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Horrible takedown attempt by Better or perhaps it was just good defense by Nix, which made it look bad.

Nix throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Better tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Nix is in Better's guard.

Better swings around for an armbar but Nix sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Better's guard.

Nix drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Better manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Nix has Better in his guard.

Nix lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.
Nix is working Better over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Better has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Nix can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

I was talking to Nix's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.

Nix got a little sloppy there for a moment and Better has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Nix has managed to get both his arms back between Better's legs - danger averted.
