Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Hector Hernandez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jonathan Uso (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Uso has chosen So Close Now as his entrance music. Both these fighters are unbeaten, so somebody's 0 has got to go!Jonathan Uso has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the super heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Hector Hernandez!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jonathan Uso!
The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Josh West and Micheangelo Fripello.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Uso feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Hernandez wants to stand up but Uso is controlling him.
Uso stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Hernandez swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Uso is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Hernandez is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Hernandez has escaped and now he's on top!
Hernandez trying to control the position from guard on top but Uso is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Uso is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Uso wants to get back to his feet but Hernandez is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Uso has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Hernandez can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Hernandez trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Uso manages to land a sweep and now he's on top!

Uso postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Uso prevents Hernandez from getting back to his feet.
Uso slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Hernandez wants to stand up but Uso is controlling him.
Hernandez trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.
Uso passes Hernandez's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Hernandez is not content to let Uso control the position.
Hernandez is trying to stand back up but Uso is controlling him
Uso throwing shots but Hernandez is blocking nicely.
Hernandez looks like he's trying to stand up.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Uso winds up and cracks Hernandez with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Uso seems to be working for a kimura but Hernandez defends the submission attempt.
Uso has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Uso is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Uso working over Hernandez with some ground and pound. Hernandez looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Uso looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Hernandez with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Uso escapes and gets back to his feet.
Jonathan Uso seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Hernandez fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Uso, pushing him back against the cage.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Hernandez.
Uso has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Hernandez lands an elbow that stopped Uso in his tracks for a moment.


It looks like Jonathan Uso has been cut.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Hernandez can't find room to land a body shot as Uso controls the action.
Uso tries to break the clinch but Hernandez is controlling the position.
Uso can't break the clinch.
Uso on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Hernandez working aggressively here.
A frustrated look appears on Uso's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Hernandez lands a knee to the head.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Uso is trying to break the clinch but Hernandez is controlling him.
Hernandez tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

I was talking to Hernandez's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
Hernandez lands an elbow inside.
Hernandez with an attempt at a knee that misses.
Hernandez lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Uso backwards.
Hernandez tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Hernandez misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Hernandez lands a nice elbow from the clinch.
Uso blocks a punch to the side of the head.

Uso wants to get back to striking at distance but Hernandez won't allow it.

Still in the clinch, Hernandez scores with a nice short uppercut.
Uso blocks the elbow strike.

Uso is trying to break the clinch but Hernandez has him pressed against the cage.
Uso looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.

Uso's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
Hernandez has Uso pressed against the cage. He pushes Uso back and as he springs towards him off the cage, Hernandez throws a beautiful elbow that sends Uso crashing to the floor! Hernandez piles on the pressure with more strikes! Uso is flailing away but he's not defending himself and the referee steps in to stop the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:19 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Hector Hernandez!

Hector Hernandez bigged himself up after the win. The crowd seemed to love it.
