PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Taw DawTang (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Merkan Killmaz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). DawTang comes to the cage accompanied by Imperial March. Killmaz has chosen in the air tonight as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the heavyweight championship of the world!

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Merkan Killmaz!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Francis DeMontford and Darius Henderson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Killmaz throws a head kick but DawTang moves out of range.
DawTang looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Killmaz is fending him off so far but DawTang persists. Nope, Killmaz circles away and we're back to standing.

Merkan Killmaz seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Killmaz tries a head kick but it misses.

DawTang feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
DawTang has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

DawTang is looking to take a break and control but Killmaz is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

DawTang thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

DawTang is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Killmaz has escaped the position, nice work there.
Killmaz is trying to control DawTang's posture but DawTang avoids it.
Killmaz tries to bench press DawTang off him but DawTang keeps the position.
DawTang is looking to take a break and control but Killmaz is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

You can see the frustration on Killmaz's face as DawTang controls the position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Killmaz throws a quick inside leg kick.
Killmaz slaps away a takedown attempt from DawTang, before circling back to the center of the mat.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Taw DawTang. That's going to take a lot out of him.
The fight stays on the outside here - DawTang looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
DawTang doesn't manage to clinch there - Killmaz circles away.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Taw DawTang will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

DawTang shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Killmaz is trying to defend but DawTang finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Killmaz has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. DawTang is working away from the top position though.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

DawTang seems to be looking for submissions.
Killmaz is looking for a sweep. DawTang is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

DawTang is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Killmaz can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
