PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Frankie Fryer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Daniel Eotvos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Daniel Eotvos will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Frankie Fryer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Daniel Eotvos!
The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Aafke Stam and Paulsen Ambrosius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A head kick misses from Fryer.
Fryer drops his hands momentarily and Eotvos takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Fryer shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Eotvos defends it nicely.
Eotvos throws a right and a left that Fryer avoids nicely.
Fryer shoots for a takedown but Eotvos saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Fryer dodges the punch combination from Eotvos.
Fryer is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Eotvos.
Fryer keeps the fight on the outside.
Fryer tries to clinch up.
No joy there for Eotvos, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Fryer drives through and clinches with Eotvos against the cage.

Fryer pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Eotvos scores with a hook to the body. Fryer takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Fryer walks into a left hand.
Eotvos takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Daniel Eotvos seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Fryer closes the distance and clinches up with Eotvos, looking for a takedown. Fryer pushes Eotvos against the cage but Eotvos circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Frankie Fryer. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Fryer slips a jab and a cross from Eotvos.
Fryer walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Eotvos scores with the left hand. Fryer knows he should have avoided that one.
Fryer walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Fryer shoots for a double leg takedown but Eotvos sprawls well. He's pushed Fryer's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Nice body punch from Eotvos.
Eotvos defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Fryer.
Daniel Eotvos is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Fryer fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Eotvos misses with a jab, cross combination.
Eotvos fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Fryer looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Fryer looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Eotvos is fending him off so far but Fryer persists. Nope, Eotvos circles away and we're back to standing.
Eotvos darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Fryer walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.

Fryer closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Eotvos quickly recovers to half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Eotvos keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount.
Eotvos is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Fryer decides to return to a standing position.
Fryer uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Eotvos.
A left lands for Eotvos.
Eotvos lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.

Fryer drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Eotvos manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Fryer is squirming around, avoiding Eotvos's attempts to control the action.
Fryer tries to reverse the position but Eotvos maintains control.
Eotvos controlling his opponent.
Eotvos can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Fryer is looking to escape.
Eotvos really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Fryer. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Eotvos tries to get up but Fryer was controlling his body and he's reversed into guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Eotvos wants to stand and escape but Fryer is having none of it.
Fryer looking to pass the guard.
Fryer throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Fryer postures up in Eotvos's guard and throws a big left but Eotvos blocks it.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Fryer stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Fryer shoots in and drives through. Eotvos sprawls well.
Eotvos paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Daniel Eotvos will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Eotvos stuffs the takedown attempt from Fryer. Fryer gets slowly back to his feet.
Fryer fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Fryer closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Eotvos's guard.
Eotvos keeping moving, preventing Fryer from controlling successfully.
Eotvos not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Eotvos avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Fryer not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Eotvos lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Eotvos trying to stand up but can't free himself from Fryer's guard.
Fryer is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Eotvos wants to pass the guard but Fryer is keeping the position.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Fryer is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Eotvos is controlling him.
Eotvos wants to control from the top but Fryer keeps moving.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Nice uppercut there from Eotvos.
Fryer finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Sloppy strikes from Fryer. Those never looked like landing.

Eotvos throws a right and a left that Fryer avoids nicely.
Eotvos cracks Fryer with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Eotvos has been working his punching technique in the buildup to the fight and it appears to be paying off.
Daniel Eotvos seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Eotvos misses with a two punch combination.
Fryer will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Eotvos throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Eotvos lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Fryer circles away quickly and effectively.
Eotvos wants to clinch but Fryer slips to the side

and Fryer counters with a takedown into side control.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Eotvos is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Fryer is looking to take a break and control but Eotvos is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Eotvos is trying to improve his position.

Fryer stands up and beckons Eotvos to his feet.
Eotvos lands a nice shot that snaps Fryer's head back.
Fryer is looking to clinch.
Eotvos throws a one two combo.

Fryer closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Fryer is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Eotvos is looking for a sweep. Fryer is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Fryer moves nicely into side control.
Eotvos is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Fryer asserts his dominance and retains side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Fryer has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Eotvos is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Fryer yanks on the arm and Eotvos is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Fryer.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:46 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Frankie Fryer!
