The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

That kick from Fenix tenderised Van Beethoven 's leg. Van Beethoven is trying to keep his angry face on.

Fenix jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.

Van Beethoven slips a straight right by Fenix.
Fenix is really peppering his opponent's head with punches.
Van Beethoven is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Fenix, right into the meat.

We've been informed that Van Beethoven has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
Van Beethoven ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Van Beethoven enables Fenix to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Van Beethoven manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Fenix cracks Van Beethoven with a solid left hand.
Fenix throws an elbow that misses. Van Beethoven uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Fenix's guard. Nice move by Van Beethoven !

Fenix is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Van Beethoven prevents Fenix from getting back to his feet.
Fenix is trying to control the position from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Fenix pulls Van Beethoven in close to his closed guard and prevents Van Beethoven from doing any damage or advancing position.

Van Beethoven is posturing up here but Fenix has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Van Beethoven tries to roll out but it's too tight and Van Beethoven has to tap! Slick submission there by Fenix!
