The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Horrible takedown attempt by Silva or perhaps it was just good defense by Gaarlandt, which made it look bad.
Michal Silva seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Silva shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Gaarlandt as he avoids it easily.
Silva dives in and grabs Gaarlandt's left leg, looking for a takedown. Gaarlandt pushes down on Silva's head and hops out.
Ricardo Gaarlandt has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Michal Silva.
Gaarlandt connects with a leg kick. Silva looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Gaarlandt connects with an inside leg kick.
A left and a right from Gaarlandt both land. Nice combination.

and Gaarlandt counters with a nice low kick that buckles Silva's knee momentarily.

Gaarlandt closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Silva gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.

Gaarlandt fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Gaarlandt lands a leg kick that knocks Silva off balance momentarily.
Silva is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Gaarlandt.
Silva shoots in for a double leg but Gaarlandt sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Silva is trying desperately to land a takedown but Gaarlandt is having absolutely none of it. This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for Silva.

Gaarlandt closes the distance and lands a one-two.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Oooooh!!! Gaarlandt has knocked Silva down with a huge combo! Gaarlandt steps away and waves a wobbly Silva back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!

Gaarlandt lands a leg kick that knocks Silva off balance momentarily.
Gaarlandt explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work.
A right-left combo lands from Gaarlandt.
Silva is still on wobbly legs! Can Gaarlandt finish him?

Gaarlandt circles and sees the opportunity to plant his feet and throw a really nice straight left hand that drops Silva to the canvas! Silva doesn't know where he is but he's trying to survive - Gaarlandt keeps piling on the pressure and forces the referee to step in! This one is aaaaaall over!
