Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Darwin Dorsey!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Royce Paiva!
The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Ryoma Takatsuka and Jeff Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Paiva with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Dorsey to score with a decent uppercut.
Paiva wants to slow Dorsey down by chopping away at his legs.
Dorsey works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Dorsey throws a head kick that misses.

Dorsey gets caught flat footed, as Paiva shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Paiva won't allow Dorsey to sweep him here.
Paiva told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet.
Dorsey is working hard here to advance position.

Paiva drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Dorsey manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Paiva has Dorsey in his guard.
We've been hearing good reports from Dorsey's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Dorsey's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Darwin Dorsey has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Paiva tries to close the distance and clinch but Dorsey swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Dorsey throws a quick inside leg kick.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Paiva takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.
Paiva looks winded!
Dorsey clobbers Paiva with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Dorsey throws a sloppy head kick and Paiva moves out of range easily.
Today's fight clock is brought to you by... OOOH that's a huge shot by Dorsey! Paiva is in big trouble here - the ref steps in to save him and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:18 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Darwin Dorsey!
An out of breath Darwin Dorsey thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
