Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Wilbert Vinson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rodriguez Verde (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Wilbert Vinson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rodriguez Verde!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Cecil Peabody and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Vinson gets caught napping as Verde dives in and scores a takedown. Vinson manages to retain guard.
Verde connects with a couple of short punches.
Vinson is trying to keep Verde in close.
Verde advances position into side control!
Vinson is looking to reverse the position.
Verde scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Vinson to see if he's OK.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Vinson is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Vinson pushes Verde away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Verde gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Vinson is not content to let Verde control the position.
Verde landing strikes.

Vinson prevents Verde from improving position.
Vinson can't do much from the bottom here.

Verde tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Vinson is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Verde has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Verde thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Verde wants to control but Vinson is keeping him busy.

You can see the frustration on Vinson's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Vinson wings away with a couple of strikes but they don't land.
Verde is looking to take a break and control but Vinson is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Verde is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Vinson has escaped the position, nice work there.

Verde decides to stand back up.

Vinson throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Verde bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Vinson wants to control but Verde postures up.

Verde is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Vinson is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Vinson manages to get back to half guard.
Vinson is trying to stand up here but Verde is controlling him well.

Verde is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Vinson doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Verde.

Verde is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Vinson defends it well.

Verde is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Vinson has managed to free his arm - good work.
Vinson controlling the position for now.

Vinson manages to escape and get back to his feet!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Rodriguez Verde dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Verde dodges the punch combination from Vinson.
Verde dives in and grabs Vinson's left leg, looking for a takedown. Vinson pushes down on Verde's head and hops out.

Vinson moves into full guard.

Verde drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Verde jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Verde wants to control from the top but Vinson keeps moving.

Vinson is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Verde defends well.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Vinson holds on and takes a little breather.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Verde drops back looking for a leg! Vinson is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Vinson manages to kick Verde off! Verde jumps back into Vinson's guard.
Vinson utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rodriguez Verde showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!


Verde closes this distance looking for a takedown but Vinson circles away.

Vinson throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Verde shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Wilbert Vinson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rodriguez Verde.
Vinson misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Vinson throws a wild body kick that Verde sees coming a mile off.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Verde misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Verde avoids a punch combination nicely.
Vinson is looking to clinch.
Vinson throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Vinson lands a jab to Verde's midsection.
Vinson throws a right and a left that Verde avoids nicely.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Verde is defended easily by Vinson.
Verde blocks a head kick by Vinson.
Verde moves in looking to clinch but Vinson pushes him off.
Vinson misses with a few strikes there.
Verde shoots in for a takedown but Vinson shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Wilbert Vinson is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Verde shoots in looking for a takedown. Vinson tries to sprawl out of it but Verde keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Vinson manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Verde has a takedown stuffed.
Vinson throws a sloppy head kick and Verde moves out of range easily.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Verde misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Vinson throws a nice looking combination but Verde bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Vinson tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Verde is able to avoid easily.
Vinson throws a leg kick that misses.
Vinson tries a head kick but it misses.
Vinson leaves Verde with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

and Verde moves into the clinch.
Wilbert Vinson has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Rodriguez Verde is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Vinson tries to work over Verde's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.

And that's the end of the fight!
Wilbert Vinson showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Verde has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
