Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Johnie Rex (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Abdul Osumah (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Johnie Rex has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Johnie Rex!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Abdul Osumah!
The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Colin Fray and Paul Gruel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Osumah keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Osumah will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Osumah lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Rex backs up against the cage.
Rex tries to close the distance and clinch but Osumah swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Rex could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Osumah rushes Rex and presses him up against the cage.
Osumah tries to pull guard but Rex won't allow it.
Osumah tries to break the clinch but Rex is controlling the position.

The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Osumah manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.
Osumah can't get the takedown.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Osumah blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Rex misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Rex lands with a left to the head.
Osumah drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Osumah tries to break free but Rex pushes him back against the cage.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Johnie Rex will probably get the nod.

Osumah forces Rex back against the cage and clinches.
The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
Rex swings wildly with an uppercut but Osumah uses good head movement to avoid it.
Osumah jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Rex walks away with a smile on his face. Osumah gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Johnie Rex is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Osumah avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Osumah looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Rex keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Osumah working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Rex doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Rex manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Rex is pressed up against the cage. Osumah has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Rex down to the mat. Rex avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Osumah drops down looking for an ankle pick but Rex pulls his leg out and moves away.

Osumah takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Rex dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Rex goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.

Rex tries to clinch there but Osumah circles away.

and Osumah counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Rex throws a nice looking combination but Osumah bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Osumah misses with a takedown attempt - Rex sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Osumah thuds his right hand into Rex's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Osumah.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Osumah jumps guard and drags Rex to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Osumah bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Rex's guard.
Rex utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Rex knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Osumah on the ground.

Osumah drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Osumah jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Osumah is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Osumah gets to his feet. Rex looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

I would just about give that final round to Abdul Osumah.
