Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Justin Craven (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Carolus Rex (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Justin Craven could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Carolus Rex's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Justin Craven!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Carolus Rex!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Alec Ball and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rex throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Craven's waist but Craven gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Rex off to one side.
Craven tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Rex paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Rex closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Craven to the mat! Craven manages to get full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Rex slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Rex slips nicely into half guard.
Rex content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.

Rex is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Craven sees it coming and defends easily.

Rex is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Craven trying to hold on to Rex's head to control him but Rex postures up.

Rex works his way into full mount!
Craven wants to hold on but Rex pushes him away.
Craven slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
Rex keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Rex's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Rex seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Craven does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Carolus Rex hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Rex drives through with a takedown into Craven's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Rex stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Craven swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Rex got a little sloppy there for a moment and Craven has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Rex has managed to get both his arms back between Craven's legs - danger averted.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Rex is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

It looks like Rex might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Rex decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Craven misses with a hook. Rex ducked under it nicely.
Craven looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Craven stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Craven is looking to clinch but Rex is avoiding it.
Craven tries to clinch there but Rex circles away.
Justin Craven is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Craven rushes Rex and presses him up against the cage.
Rex tries to score a body lock takedown but Craven shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Rex wants to break the clinch but can't.
Craven prevents the takedown attempt.
Justin Craven has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Carolus Rex.

Craven fails to pull guard.
Craven tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Rex.
Rex has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Craven is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Rex is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.
Rex is persisting with his attempts to control the action in the clinch, rather than do any real damage.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Rex throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Craven was covering up waiting for the punch and Rex finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Craven working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Rex doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Rex manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Rex throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Craven works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Rex gets to his feet - Craven follows without any prompting.
No luck for Rex with that takedown attempt.
Craven wants to clinch up but Rex keeps it at a distance.
Justin Craven is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Craven gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Craven blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Rex has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Craven is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Rex has had enough of the clinch but Craven keeps him there for the moment.

Craven jumps guard but Rex stands there with Craven around his waist. Craven gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Craven tries to work over Rex's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Rex has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Craven avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Rex has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Craven clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
Craven turns into Rex and is now in his guard.

Rex has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Craven can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Craven postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Rex has his foot on Craven's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Craven works his way back into a safe position though.

Rex wants to finish this one by submission but Craven is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Rex.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Carolus Rex showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Rex wants to control from the top but Craven keeps moving.

Craven escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Rex gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Rex has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Craven is proving hard to escape from.

Rex drops back, looking for a kneebar! Craven looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Craven looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Craven!

Craven tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Craven has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Rex is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Rex is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Craven's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Craven's back!

Rex has his opponent's back and is working for the choke.

Rex is looking for the choke from the back position but Craven is controlling his hands well.

Carolus Rex comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Rex winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
