PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Christopher Newton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vincent Tremblay (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Newton comes to the cage accompanied by She Knows. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Christopher Newton!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Vincent Tremblay!
The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Ben Zyskovitsi and Matti Vanhoillinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Decent striking displayed by Tremblay there.
Newton takes a swing at Tremblay's ribcage but misses.

Newton seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.
Newton lands a nice shot to the body.
Newton closes the distance and clinches up with Tremblay, looking for a takedown. Newton pushes Tremblay against the cage but Tremblay circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Newton tries to work over Tremblay's front leg with a kick but Tremblay checks it.

Newton jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Tremblay walks away with a smile on his face. Newton gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Tremblay has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Newton creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Tremblay can do anything to dispel that myth.

Tremblay really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Newton. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

We're going to have a standup here because Christopher Newton wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

It looks like Christopher Newton has been cut.

Tremblay catches Newton with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!

That was a close second round but I would say that Christopher Newton will probably get the nod.

Newton does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.

Tremblay must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Newton is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Tremblay has managed to free his arm - good work.

Newton seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Tremblay does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Newton in particular looking to stall.

Newton is looking for a kimura but Tremblay is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Newton to get the leverage.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Tremblay keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Well Newton has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
