Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Petr Jakovlev (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Samson Miodek (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jakovlev comes to the cage accompanied by Devour. Miodek has chosen Radioactive as his entrance music. Samson Miodek has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 12 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Petr Jakovlev!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Samson Miodek!
The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Sam Margolis and James Ackerman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Miodek avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Miodek throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.


It looks like Petr Jakovlev has been cut.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Jakovlev.
Miodek fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Jakovlev.
Miodek throws a low kick, looking for Jakovlev's leg but Jakovlev calmly moves out of range.
Jakovlev walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Jakovlev fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Miodek throws a hook but Jakovlev blocks it.
Miodek rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Jakovlev cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Jakovlev tries to clinch but Miodek is having none of it.
A slapping leg kick lands for Miodek.
Jakovlev takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Miodek throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.

Miodek circles away from the clinch attempt.
Jakovlev tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Miodek swivels and escapes.
Jakovlev wants to clinch.
Jakovlev stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Miodek.

Miodek shoots in and gets a takedown into Jakovlev's guard.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Jakovlev is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Miodek slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Jakovlev seems a little lost for a moment, as Miodek dominates the positioning.
Jakovlev regains half guard there - taking advantage of Miodek's attempt to lay and pray for a moment.

Miodek perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Miodek in particular looking to stall.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Samson Miodek hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Jakovlev tries to clinch but Miodek is having none of it.
Miodek fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Jakovlev looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

Miodek tries to roll over but Jakovlev keeps him under control.
Miodek is controlling Jakovlev's position as best he can from this difficult position.
Miodek is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Miodek is looking to control Jakovlev's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Miodek avoid being mounted?

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Miodek circles away from the clinch attempt.
Miodek tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Jakovlev was well out of range. Poor timing from Miodek.

Jakovlev moves into the clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!



Miodek throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Jakovlev was covering up waiting for the punch and Miodek finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Miodek loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Samson Miodek has got the better of the ground game so far.
Jakovlev is trying to control the position from the bottom.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jakovlev is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Miodek lands a front kick.

Miodek throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Jakovlev sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Miodek bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Petr Jakovlev is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Miodek rushes Jakovlev and presses him up against the cage.

Jakovlev has Miodek pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Jakovlev pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Miodek tumbling to the mat - Jakovlev dives into Miodek's guard.
Jakovlev wants to control from the top but Miodek keeps moving.
Jakovlev is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Miodek looking to hit a scissor sweep but Jakovlev is one step ahead there.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Petr Jakovlev.

Miodek connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.

Miodek postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Jakovlev looks a forlorn figure.

Miodek working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Miodek connects with a nice short shot to Jakovlev's temple.

The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Miodek. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.

Samson Miodek showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Jakovlev is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Miodek is just riding it out for now. Jakovlev eventually gives up the hold.

Miodek moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Jakovlev stands up over Miodek, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Jakovlev won't allow Miodek to sweep him here.

Miodek escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Jakovlev gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Miodek is adopting a defensive guard.

Jakovlev has gone for a leg lock! Miodek slips out almost immediately though and dives into Jakovlev's guard.

Jakovlev pushes a forearm under Miodek's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Miodek is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:55 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Petr Jakovlev!
Petr Jakovlev decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
