Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ron Dogg (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Darius Ellis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dogg's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Kickstart My Heart. Both fighter's entrance songs getting the crowd jumping here.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ron Dogg!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 12 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Darius Ellis!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ellis gets tackled into the cage by Dogg. Dogg maintains the clinch.
Dogg unloads a knee to the mid-section.
Dogg wants to break the clinch but can't.
Dogg misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Good body shot from Ellis.

Ellis breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
A head kick by Dogg misses

and Ellis moves into the clinch.
Ellis prevents the takedown attempt.
Dogg slowing the pace effectively.
Ellis tries to land a knee to the head but Dogg blocks with his arms.
Dogg is trying to break the clinch but Ellis is controlling him.
Dogg tries to circle away but Ellis has him pinned against the cage.

Dogg throws a knee to the head but misses.

Ellis breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Dogg throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Ellis shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Dogg pinned against the cage. Dogg gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Dogg has been working on his balance at Diamond In The Rough Training Facility, so perhaps that has help him stuff some of the takedown attempts by Ellis.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Ellis tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Ellis moves into range and clinches up with Dogg.
Dogg drops down looking for an ankle pick but Ellis pulls his leg out and moves away.

Dogg shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Ellis is trying to defend but Dogg finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Dogg is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Ellis is just riding it out for now. Dogg eventually gives up the hold.
Ellis is staying active underneath Dogg, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Dogg slips a nice elbow through Ellis's hands, connecting with Ellis's forehead.
Dogg wants to lay and pray for a moment but Ellis keeps working.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Dogg looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Dogg tries to stand but can't do so whilst Ellis controls his leg.
Dogg has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Ellis slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Dogg works over Ellis with some ground and pound from guard.
Ellis looking for a sweep. Not yet Ellis, not yet.
Dogg throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Ellis works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Dogg slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Dogg wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Ellis, who protects the arm well.

Dogg has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Ellis!

Dogg is really struggling to control Ellis but he's trying to hold on to the position.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Dogg moves into the clinch successfully.
Dogg drops down looking for an ankle pick but Ellis pulls his leg out and moves away.
Ellis shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Dogg as he avoids it easily.

Dogg fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Ellis, pushing him back against the cage.
Dogg pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.
Ellis tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Dogg's elbow.
Ellis is working for takedown but Dogg is calmly controlling the position for now.
Dogg tries to land knees in the clinch but Ellis avoids the damage to the body.

Ellis's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

and Ellis counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Ellis.

Ellis tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Dogg smiles and moves away.
Ron Dogg has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Darius Ellis.

Dogg does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.

Ellis tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Dogg paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Dogg throws a nice looking combination but Ellis bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Ellis tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Ellis has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Dogg avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Ellis throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Dogg's waist but Dogg gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Ellis off to one side.

Dogg is trying to trip Ellis. He has hold of a leg but Ellis is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Dogg persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Dogg drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Ellis dives on top into guard.
Ellis must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Dogg shoots in looking for a takedown. Ellis tries to sprawl out of it but Dogg keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Ellis manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Dogg will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Dogg changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Ellis fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Ellis lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!

Dogg wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Dogg has Ellis pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Dogg pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Ellis tumbling to the mat - Dogg dives into Ellis's guard.

Ellis is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Dogg defends well.

Dogg drops back looking for a leg! Ellis is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Ellis manages to kick Dogg off! Dogg jumps back into Ellis's guard.

A close third round but Darius Ellis just about did enough to take it.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Dogg swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Ellis tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Dogg manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

A frustrated look appears on Dogg's face as he tries to break the clinch.

With the fighters clinched against the cage, Ellis creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Oh Dogg is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Ellis working the clinch nicely. Dogg is working for position but Ellis cracks him with a big knee to the head! Dogg crumples up against the cage and Ellis lands two more shots before the ref can save Dogg! This one is all over!

Darius Ellis was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
