PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between George Friendly (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Sparrow (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sparrow has chosen He's a Pirate as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Jack Sparrow enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of The Island, George Friendly !
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Jack Sparrow!
The judges for this bout are Michael Johnstone, Sandra Marshall and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sparrow slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Nice takedown defense from Sparrow. No joy for Friendly on that attempt.
Friendly moves away from the strike by Sparrow.
Friendly looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Friendly shoots in looking for a takedown. Sparrow tries to sprawl out of it but Friendly keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Sparrow manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Sparrow lands a slapping body shot.
Sparrow connects with a looping right hand.


It looks like George Friendly has been cut.
Friendly has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Sparrow finds it's way round the side to connect with Friendly 's head.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Sparrow lands a body shot.

Sparrow changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Friendly misses with a telegraphed body shot
and Sparrow counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Friendly takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Sparrow has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Friendly shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Sparrow as he avoids it easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for George Friendly . That's going to take a lot out of him.
A combination from Friendly does no damage.
Sparrow looks to throw the jab but Friendly is out of range.
Sparrow moves into range and connects with a jab.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Friendly tries to score a power double leg takedown but Sparrow sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Friendly somewhat.
Sparrow throws an overhand right that lands on Friendly 's shoulder, as Friendly tries to avoid the shot.
Sparrow scores with a body shot.
Nice jab there from Sparrow.
Friendly gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Sparrow makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Friendly gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Sparrow throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Friendly on the side of the head.


Friendly is rocked!
Friendly walks straight into a right hand from Sparrow - that's dropped him! Sparrow jumps into mount and starts pounding away - can he finish?! More strikes go undefended and the referee has to dive in to save Friendly from any more punishment! Friendly complains about the stoppage but falls over as he tries to stand back up, so it was clearly a good stoppage.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:44 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Jack Sparrow!
A relieved looking Jack Sparrow thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
George Friendly was interviewed post fight and said 'I'd like to thank the boyz and staff at Head Hunters FIght Club here on the island and I'll be back in the octagon soon!!'.
